No problem, I'll take a look after I deal with Cleric's NPCs and Kevin M's character.

The futuristic-rustic feel I got from Elewa's appearance definitely translates into his backstory and personality. I can't help feeling that you've drawn some inspiration from Lennie Small in characterizing Elewa and my own personal image of him aside, I could definitely see a performance of him by John Malkovich.

You say it best in his profile concerning Elewa’s simplicity and it’s something I’d say works into the “Country Mouse in the Big City” vibe you look to be working towards. That said, I absolutely adore that you’ve given Elewa a skill atypical of what would be expected of his personality. It does plenty to characterize him beyond what could be a potentially stifling stereotype. What strikes me about what you do particularly well here is the way you’re giving a very clear image of Elewa through the use of a ‘type’ and following this through the addition of details that prevent him from being a cardboard cutout. That earns him A LOT of points in my book. I’d say at this point he’s the type of character who won’t need to rely on the crutch of an exaggerated characteristic and I would recommend avoiding writing him around a single trait, although that is entirely up to you.

That said, one thing that does worry me is that while I’m getting a clear image of Elewa as a character, I’m not finding it as easy to see how you will approach his characterization in the RP. While, as I said, I can see a “Country Mouse in the Big City” story being a direction under which he should be able to head, I don’t think it’s going to be a long-term solution. At this stage, I’m not really getting the impression that he has any direction to go in terms of character growth. The best possibility I can imagine would be the effects his leaving has on his family, although, and this is merely my own personal preference, I do find that stories focused on relationships between characters not in the immediate physical presence of one another tend to get tired very quickly.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Elewa is a heavily rounded character and has enough distinguishing traits to support him as a good character. However, I am nervous that he may become dangerously static and I’d seriously suggest adding some potential for dynamic growth to him.

All said and done however, I think he’s definitely set to have a very good start in this RP.
Thanks for your insightful thoughts. I hadn't considered the Lennie angle, if anything I think he's loosely based on the mannerisms of Robert Ford from The Assassination of Jesse James; the slightly awkward near-constant smiling even when he's not supposed to, the slight aversion to maintaining direct eye contact and how he mumbles in most conversations. These are all character traits that will feature in Elewa as a person so he's quite different from my usual oeuvre of characters.

Obviously I don't want to show my hand too much at this point because I want to surprise people when I get into the character in game but I can assuage your concerns on how I'm going to keep him motivated throughout the game. The main crux of Elewa's story is going to come from how he's going to change and grow as a person now he's been taken away from the support network of his family and friends and how he's going to have to learn to interact with new people and situations on his own. Furthermore; I have two NPCs, his elder brother and his girlfriend, who will be featuring in his story and visiting him at Arcadia for their own reasons thus providing him with a link back home so it's not like he'll be totally separated from everything he knew before. Lots of dramatic pathos to be had there.

If you look back through the thread, you will see a prospective power build which kind of drops heavy hints to where I'm aiming to take Elewa and rough thematic end point for his character.

Once again, thanks for the analysis, I appreciate it a lot. :)

Alright, I'll be doing these in threes because of space issues. These aren't really going to be as deep as my PC analyses because... well, NPCs are seldom as deep as PCs and these bios are pretty sparse in terms of actual character stuff.

Bale achieved the goal five years ago, making him one of the youngest people to ascend to such political power.

Bale's past before he became head of the DSM is fairly bland. The only child to middle-class parents (both deceased now), no elemanti or enhancer powers in his bloodline for over 250 years, and above average grades in school. He attended a standard academy and graduated with higher than average marks, earning him a possible governmental job position. He took this in the Reclaimation Force and worked there for five years before transferring over to DSM when he turned 23. Within seven years, he rose through the ranks of the DSM and became the former department heads' chief advisor. When the former department head, Richard Leonne, died in a traffic accident, Bale was elected head of DSM through majority vote, as he knew the most about how the place was run.

Bale has a cool, calm buisness like manner and never seems to loose his cool. He never raises his voice, but those who know him or work with him will tell you that, despite this, he is always heard. Something about his presence commands a room.

Bale is missing his lright eye. How this happened is not known to the public.

PERSONAL SKILLS: Bale has an excellent eye for detail and memory retention. Beyond that, he's an excellent negotiator and buisnessman.

    POWER TYPE: Normal human.
Well... yeah, there's not much to say here. He's a hardworker, pretty composed and something of a self-made man. He's middle class and a normal human so he likely is a good intermediary between the super rich of the higher Sectors and the poor and empoverish lower Sectors, he doesn't let his emotions rule him and his soft-spoken method of conducting himself bespeaks a man who doesn't speak without good reason and due thought behind his words.

In short, a pretty dangerous man. Since he keeps lid on his emotions we have no real idea what his motivation is or why he's taken the job he has. He doesn't seem to be motivated by the, presumably, large paycheck of such an important role nor did he seem to actively pursue this line of work, seeming more to fall into it. That said, his fast climb in the ranks would not happen unless one of two things were the case. Either he really wanted power and success or he's been using less than savoury methods to climb the ladder, the "traffic accident," of his last superior being the least subtle of his power grabs.

His missing eye is also cause for thought. He's clearly a public figure but the fact that noone knows what happened is troubling. You would think that there would be a hospital report or at least an assault charge that a suitably diligent reporter could uncover. Since there isn't, this suggests cover-up which further leads me not to trust him.

This man is something of a cipher and, as such, I think he will likely cause some kind of schism in the government of Eden. I have a pet theory about human vs the empowered racial tensions being a theme in this game and this guy is well placed to call for stricter governmental control over the empowered.

So... not much to say about him, but that's about where I'd predict his role going.

    Okay, next...

CHARACTER HISTORY & PERSONALITY: Gulliver served in the Paragons for over twenty-two years before retiring five years ago to become Headmaster at Arcadia Academy, where he had graduated when he was 18. Despite not possessing any Elemanti or Enhancer powers, Gulliver was one of the best fighters and soldiers the Paragons ever saw, and he more than once threw down with people out of his weight calss and won. Because of this reputation, he earned the nick-name 'No-Class', because no class was beyond him.

Because of this close relationship with the Paragons, Gulliver uses a somewhat unusual method to help train his students. He actually has them intern with the Paragosn as cadets to help train them better.

Gulliver is a man of few words when he's not instructing, and seems somewhat stern and foreboding. However, he is a very honest and loyal person, and is proad of his students.

PERSONAL SKILLS: Surprisingly, Gulliver is a talented artist and engineer.

    POWER TYPE: Normal human.
Again, not a huge amount to say on character here.

Seems like a classic mentor figure; he's not as strong as his students but still commands their respect, he brings the kind of police-family ethic to Arcadia and will likely push the students towards establishing bonds between them. Presumably he's seen his fair share of shit in his time with the Paragorns, I'd be interested to know if he had to deal with any kinds of mass civil unrest and how that shaped his views on how the empowered should be trained and controlled.

The fact he's a normal human and he's teaching empowered is a bit odd. I'd imagine he might feel like he has a lot to prove with each new year of students that enter the school, if he's got some ridiculous skill-based combat skills that allow him to defeat enhancers and elemanti when he clearly should not I can fully see my suspension of disbelief going 'Twang,' but GM fiat so whatever. Leading on from that; I'm also curious as to how he survived largely unscathed against a Class B elemanti unscathed while a Class A enhancer took an extremely unpleasant wound. Though I imagine Hilda was doing most of the tanking there because of her durability, but even then, to be able to hurt a 50 Durability Enhancer, the elemanti must have been throwing out some ridiculously high end fire power so I am bemused as to how Gulliver survived that. Perhaps there is more to this story than meets the eye?

Beyond that; yeah, not a lot to say really. Seems... fine.

CHARACTER HISTORY & PERSONALITY: Hilda is the current head of Eden's Paragons and Justice Department, and has been for fifteen years now. She is a stright arrow and non-nonsense woman, believing strongly in the law and following it. She is very well respected and is highly liked by the citizens of Eden. Hilda is very proactive against crime, and it is because of her that the crime rates have been the lowest they've been in thirty years.

Even before taking the Commander position fifteen years back, Hilda was a Paragon for 12 years and has first hand knowledge of the streets, how criminals work, and how best to counter their activities.

Hilda has a scar running down the right side of her face, extending to other parts of her body as well. It was recieved in the line of duty before she became Commander. A rouge Class B Fire Elemanti attacked a Paragon patrol and killed everyone save Gullivar Tantalus and Hilda Agnar, the two of which subdued and killed the Fire Elemanti. Medical treatments healed the skin, but could not change the color of the scarred flesh. As such, the 'scar' is more like a brownish-tan blotch.

Hilda is level-headed and intelligent, passing the Arcadian Academy exams with one of the highest recorded scores to date. She comes off somewhat stern when first met, but is actually fairly friendly once you get to know her.

PERSONAL SKILLS: Hilda is a talented cook, marksman, and sports enthusist.

    POWER TYPE: Enhancer, Class A.
    -Stamina (50)
    -Durability (50)
Again, very little to go in terms of character.

Straight edged, stern, law abiding. There's the scope for the step into totalitarianism due to her devotion to the letter of the law, could be interesting if my humans vs empowered storyline is correct because she would have to enforce it even though she might not agree with the curtailing of her civil liberties but that is entirely conjecture on my part.

I don't know. Academically good, excellent and extensive work record, facial scarring that remains despite great medical technology. Heck, skin pigmentation reassignment is kind of possible now, a thousand years in the future it should be child's play so I'd imagine that she chose to keep the mark, perhaps a reminder of how she failed to save anyone on the patrol except Gulliver? Whatever, it's not that engaging to be frank.

    Yeah...

She's the NPC-est of the NPCs so far. Literally nothing to say here.

CHARACTER HISTORY & PERSONALITY: One of the many types of robotic units Xanatos Inc. produced during the Final Conflict. When it first came out, the Mark VII was a vast improvement to the Mark VI's, and was concidered a breakthrough technology. With better problem solving, self repair capabilities, and more advanced internal and external sensors, alongside a built in power cell, the Mark VII's were the first combat units that could take on full Class B Empowered humans and win. Because of the advanced targeting/hunting/tracking system installed into each one, each was given the designation 'Hunter', followed by a code name.

However, within five years, the Mark VII had been surpassed by the Mark VIII, and then three years later by the Mark IX, and was concidered next to obsolete. By the year 2357, the last year of the Conflict and the year the final Xanatos combat unit, the Mark X, came out, the Mark VII was a museum piece for the most part. Of the original 200 Mark VII's built, only 13 remained in active service by 2357.

PERSONAL SKILLS: Search & Destroy, anti-elemental weaponry, anti-leyline weaponry, anti-ether weaponry.

    POWER TYPE: Ancient Tech.
Well, this supports my pitch on the humans vs empowered storyline. Ancient weapons created to battle empowered people all the way up to B Class and potentially above. This profile tells more about the world than it does tell us about an interesting character.

So, we know from this that the government of Eden has access to an army of killer droids, the very least of which is capable of throwing down confidently with a B Class human. In fact this is considered a 'museum piece,' I guess this answers my question as to how the government of Eden has remained in power despite 1000 years of cultural sink conditions, forget the utopian society and decent standard of living, the man in charge has his finger on the "deathbots kill everyone button," that's a heck of a peacekeeping option to have.

This would make martial law in Eden all the more terrifying and makes me wonder more if there have been periods of civil unrest in Eden prior to this and, if they did happen, what went down. Heck, how does history work in Eden. The city has been in place for 1000 years and given digital media and information control, the government could easily redact entire events out of the history of Eden over a period of generations and no one would know unless they were keeping secure files.

This gynoid could well be a system that allows for that. She knows pre-Eden history, she has been present for the entirety of the city, she's likely an entirely autonomous system that isn't connected to any kind of mainframe simply because such a connection is obsolete and it would be massive pain to try and overhaul her software so she can interface with tech that is literally a millennia more advanced than her. So they would instead rely on her core programming which would doubtless make her loyal to the current regime.

Hmm... a talking doll with a thousand years of history in it's head. Now that would be interesting for our PCs to get hold of.

From that point on though, Xanatos Incorporated (the pre-mankind wipeout addition) has no known history on him until he shows back up at the age of 25, a terrorist leader and one of the worst criminals known to humanity.

Owen Vatta was concidered a terrorist, a murderer, a thief, an insurrectionist, and a committer of genocide. Multiple governmental agencies, including Xanatos Incorporated, listed Owen Vatta as the figure who laid waste to the New Africa Corp and the British Neo-SAS, an incident that resulted in over two million deaths. He lead multiple excursions against the Xanatos Peacekeepers and various world governments, and was a key figure in the last war humanity fought. He died in the Final Clash in the year 2357.

PERSONAL SKILLS: Owen Vatta was said to be an exceptional escape artist, electronics expert, and sleight of hand user.

    POWER TYPE: Ether Lord.

    Yeah, this guy isn't dead.

I don't know what Ether does but if it doesn't grant him some form of extended lifespan I will be very surprised.

I have literally zero to go on with character. As a random pitch I'll say that he's been cruelly coloured by the Eden regime and is actually a hero who will tell our PCs the truth about what REALLY happened once we use Hunter Snow to contact him or something.

    That'll do.

CHARACTER HISTORY & PERSONALITY: A top graduate from Arcadia Academy three years ago, Salem is a well respected Elemancer of some talent. Though she had a chance to have almost any job she could have asked for, including one in singing (as she was well known as 'The Bell' back in the Academy for her excellent singing voice), she instead took up a job of helping control Eden's weather patterns using her Air Elemanti powers (as a Weather Warden) for the government. It's a middle of the road sort of job, one that people can disappear into rather easily. Despite graduating with one of the highest scores ever recorded in the Academy, Salem taking the mid-level govermental job took people by surprise as most assumed she would go places and do great things. Despite this, she seems content with her job, life, and mid-sized apartment in Sector 3 and does a good, if not outstanding job, at her workplace.

Or so that's what people would say if asked about her. A good worker who keeps to herself.

However, at night, Salem dons a disguise and holo-mask and roams the cityscape as the Black Siren, Eden's most notorious thief. She is on the top ten most wanted list of the Paragons (Eden's police) and has eluded capture for over a year now. It is estimated that she has stolen at least fifteen million credits (the currency of Eden) worth of art, supplies, information, and other such items. She is wanted for charges of reckless endangerment, theft, armed robbery, assualt, assualt with a deadly weapon (though she has never killed anyone), resisting arrest, battery, breaking and entering, tresspassing, striking an officer of the law, acts of insurrection and terrorism, and noise violations/complaints.

PERSONAL SKILLS: Singing, gymnastics, and ballet on the outside. She also, as her alter-ego, possess great skill at breaking and entering techniques, hacking computer systems, and other such underhanded skills a thief would use.

POWER TYPE: Elemancer, Class B ranked.
    -Speed (25)
    -Air (25).

Her Air powers and speed are mostly used as unique vibrational sonic attacks (think Black Canary, only worse if she wants to).
Okay, so why would an academically brilliant young thing like Salem turn to a secret life of crime? It can't be the money, she could have taken literally any job she wanted and pretty much named her salary with a reputation like "Highest Scoring Graduate from Arcadia EVER," she must be doing this for some other reason. Classically, this is usually about the thrill of lawbreaking; though that would seem pretty redundant that you create this character and then don't tie her into any kind of greater narrative. Alternatively; perhaps it could be a reaction to the subtle governmental control of the Eden authorities? She scored highly and she's academically brilliant, maybe she picked up on something that no one else has?

Her character is pretty simplistic at this point. The whole dual identity thing is pretty played out so there's not much I can really say on this one until we meet her and start getting into her head as to why she's doing this.

CHARACTER HISTORY & PERSONALITY: Singin' Jay is the top most wanted man in all of Eden by the Paragons, with a massive bounty on his head of over 50 million credits. He is a multiple murderer, thief, marauder, drug dealer, and pretty much every other bad thing you can think of, beside sexual predator/deviant. He has killed seven Paragons and thirty three other people, men and women alike, making his known body count 40 at the moment.

Beyond this, pretty much nothing is known about him. His real name is a mystery, no known family, and no known methodology. He strikes randomly, at random times and places, and never the same thing twice. Sometimes he spares people, and sometimes he doesn't.

He also carries with him a Webley revolver, in full service. This gun is contraband in Eden, as are all chemically fired guns, and it is unknown how he got his hands on one, much less a working one with actual ammo (which he seems to have plenty of).

He got his nicknames through the fact that he likes to sing or whistle as he goes about his work. Both are very disturbing facets of the man, as the witnessess and survivors have claimed.

PERSONAL SKILLS: The few people who have spoken to him and survived have said he is very well read, despite his randomness and insanity. He also appears to possess a disturbing number of facts and tidbits about Earth before the destruction of everything.

POWER TYPE: There are conflicting statements from survivors and witnessess on this. Some say Elemanti powers, other says Enhancer powers. The most common set-up, however, is as follows: Air and Speed. The Paragons haven't managed to get a Class rating on him, but one of the people he killed in combat was rated a B, so Jay is assumed to be at least on that level of power.
    So... hmmm...

Jay's backstory doesn't seem to make that much sense.

So, first of "never the same thing twice," conflicts with "multiple murderer," unless he went on a 40 man murder spree and then never did it again. Also, if no one knows who he is or what he looks like, how do they know that he's a drug dealer or thief? I mean, this makes the Eden police force look pretty terrible if they don't even know what he looks like.

I mean, I live in London which has more CCTV cameras per square mile than almost anywhere else in the world. It's not really possible to perform murder in a public place without being caught on camera any more now much less 1000 years in the future. The fact that this guy has left survivors and yet they can't give an accurate description of him leads me to think that you're trying a bit of misdirection here. I'm going to make a wild prediction here; Jay isn't human and he isn't an empowered guy. He's another ancient tech android that's gone haywire, this would explain his shifting appearance (nanobot camoflage) his seemingly large supply of ammo (he's generating it himself within his body) and the sporadic nature of his activities (he's a crazy robot, he doesn't need logic or actual personal gain.)

This, of course, leads to the question of who programmed him and why is he doing this? To go with my earlier theory, it could be Bale, he's totally placed to do it and he can use Jay as an example of why empowered people need to be controlled better, he can use it as smear on Hilda's time as Paragorn Chief and claim it is her empowered nature that has rendered her unable to catch Jay and thus gain government approval to release the deathbots to institute martial law on the city and thus take over.

He'll have Jay publically murder a high profile normal human. Probably Gulliver. He can then claim that Hilda always resented Gulliver due to him being just as "good," as her despite his normal human body.

Of course, this is all conjecture, I might be way off base. Still, sounds like a fun campaign, eh?

(My guess for what happens with a significantly boosted bloodflow) This one's a bit confusing, since he needs to be able to feel the liquid's flow, which I'd assume takes at least a few seconds for, say, taking a pulse, but needs only a light tap to activate? Doesn't seem too bad, though, since it only affects existing flows and requires contact.

Maybe give the guy a martial art based on contact and redirection or something that would allow him to grab wrists in combat as a matter of course.

Pulse Sonar - Now this one, I'm not sure about. It seems expressly designed to allow Dick to bypass his balancing restrictions for Pulse Thrust and whatever else he ends up getting. Here's how I see it: Dick uses Pulse Thrust. The pulse travels through the ground and thus through any groundbound characters, marking out their blood. Dick then has the explicit ability to Pulse Thrust all their blood flows without meeting any of the normal requirements for doing so. This isn't an inherently bad power, but I'd probably save it for a power slot at a higher level, since its main function is to enhance your other Water powers, and abilities bought at higher levels are usually expected to be more powerful.

I should note that I don't see your point totals anywhere. Is it safe to assume you chose an even split of 5 Water and 5 Speed? (Hypothetically, with 2 abilities in Water, it could be as much as 9 Water and 1 Speed, but I think only one player has actually done that.)
Pulse Sonar currently allows him to, after a 3 second delay, affect things he recognizes as a liquid from a relatively short range with an ability that otherwise only works on (potentially extended) contact.

Essentially it's a limited range, activated Liquid Sense that prevents you from using other water abilities temporarily.

And it's safe to note that his Water abilities are between 5 and 9 (or 10- if he's doing the silly thing of having 10 in Water and 0 in Speed, but calling yourself a Elemancer anyway). Anything more than that can be left unknown.

This is the Swedish alphabet. You may notice that the umlauted ones actually count as distinct letters, rather then variations of A and O. So, putting an umlaut over an O actually turns it into a different sound.

Specifically, it makes you sound as if you're talking in some hilarious fake accent.

Lindström is correct, though it's not pronounced "Lindstrom", like most English speakers tend to assume.

    For future reference:

    Å sounds like "d'oh"
    Ä sounds like "yeah"
    Ö sounds like "duh"
Missed this yesterday. I think I've spelled it Lindcorp everywhere but her bio, so I'd better change that.

Hey, both our endings are pretty open. It could happen in the future.

Hmmm... Looking at it again, you're right. Blame it on me being up really late when I checked it. For some reason I missed the 'needs to be in range of the auras' and 'cannot use his powers for three seconds' clauses, which make it a lot more palatable. He's not dropping a roomful of people with this, which my original reading implied. Consider my worries rescinded.

Of course, if he was doing the 10/0 split, he'd have another Water power to work with. I mainly mentioned it because it's involved in the range and duration calculations of his abilities. (90' is a good deal more useful than 50', as is 9 seconds to reach an aura instead of 5. (Though the better speed would fix that.))
