As great as Marquez's art is, I'm a tad disappointed to find out that he's digital.
Anyone who doesn't like Miles Morales is a racist.

I find it interesting he works digitally. I might have to experiment with it myself sometime.

Why would you be disappointed? If his art is good, that should be all that matters...

...especially if it helps him hit the monthly deadlines. And really it makes a lot of sense to go straight to digital. After the layout, you're basically going straight to inking.

Of course some artists prefer the feel or look of working in a with traditional pencil and paper. For myself, it's definitely a feel thing.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!

Yeah exactly. Honestly a whole lot more artists should think about switching to digital if they'd like to hit their monthly deadlines. I think his stuff looks great and is very reminiscent of Pichelli, which is probably due to them being colored by the same guy.

While digital does mean less shoddy art on time, it also means you can't buy one-of-a-kind pieces.

And it can also reduce the amount of art errors. If it is digital it can easily be corrected whereas with traditional it is much more difficult and ruins the art. Look at Samnee's splash page of Spidey from #7, originally Miles had a backpack on but it got obscured because it was an error, and now it looks like Miles is hunchbacked.

That's fair, but you still have commissions and sketches that are done on paper.

Ultimate Comics is becoming a powerhouse in artists with David Marquez and Luke Ross coming in to work. Now if only the Ultimate X-Men artist could improve his art that would be awesome.

Doesn't get any more one-of-a-kind than that.

I'm not talking about commissions. I'm talking about pages from the comic itself.

A lot of artists don't sell their pages any way, even if done on paper. I don't think Samnee does, for instance.

Besides, how many pages of original art do you own as it is?

I think he owns at least one from Ultimate X maybe more. I own one from Ultimate Avengers 2. But is anyone expecting this to become really expensive in the future.
