DCU: New Dawn April Solicits

Welcome to the DCU: New Dawn! A creative and interactive fantasy football/fan fiction styled game where the DC Universe is placed into the hands of you, its fans both long time and new. At its origins, a group of plotters convened and drafted characters, writers and artists, bringing them together in titles that sated their appetites, tickled their fancy and will (hopefully) pique your interest. To the relaunch weary worry not! This is not an actual division of DC Comics’ line, but a fun activity that anyone can take part in!
Listed below are the solicits our plotters have provided for this month. Like any good comic book store (or digital shopping web page, this is the 21st century!) you have the chance to peruse and purchase any title you like. Of course, we don't accept cash, debit or credit...because all of the books are free! The prices are there to give you an idea of what to build your budget around. While we would appreciate you buying all of the books, try to play this as if using your own monthly budget. Be sure to check out which of your favourite characters are featured in these stories by looking at our older overview page and our creator's discussion thread.
Books this month have been divided into four categories: the Dawn of the Braves (super heroes), the Dawn of the Damned (vigilantes and anti-heroes), Dawn of the Forgotten (mystical, magical, space and science adventures) and Dawn of the Universe (space related). Post your selected titles under the simple heading DoB, DoD , DoF and DoU. At the end of April purchasing will be closed the purchases will be tallied. Books that receive low purchase numbers may be put on the chopping block as decided by our plotters and, of course, you dear readers.

The psychotic ex-marine Schism has left a path of injured and broken victims throughout Gotham to mirror his own permanent nerve, limb and brain damage. He believes the 'cure' for his disease is Floyd 'Deadshot' Lawton, who is hired to take out the Batman. At Wayne Manor, it's a symphony of destruction, as Matches and Falcone crew somehow confront Batman and it's Matches vs Mario vs Batman vs Schism vs Deadshot. Meanwhile, the Gotham PD wants to take down everyone. Someone sees the light, someone is scarred for life, someone dies and no one will ever be the same. Several years ago, Batman was believed to be just an urban legend and Matches Malone was an alter ego that Bruce could use to bring down a mob family, lose himself or even be himself. It all ends, as a new legend steps out of shadows and embraces the dark night.

Jonathan Crane has developed a severe case of insomnia due to the visions he's seen and the voices he's heard he can't keep his sanity any longer but he refuses to become the scarecrow once again he refuses to throw his whole life away and for what? so he can become some lunatic running around spraying people with some ghastly mixture of chemicals all so he can see them driven completely mad by what they fear the most his past wasn't always so black and gloomy although when you've spent much of your youth getting picked on due to your sheer appearance and when the bullies tormented you every day shouting out the nickname of "Scarecrow" it's hard to keep a straight face it's hard to remain pure and confident that things will work out in the end but now seeing his past flash right before his very eyes Crane realized that he was wrong he realized that nothing ever changed the only thing that changed was he gave up he surrendered and let the batman catch him one night out of total boredom he was sick and tired of this same routine making a bunch of idiots piss themselves before batman came in to save the day and beat him to a bloody pulp ending the night by hauling his ass off to Arkham Asylum this time it was different and this time he couldn't look back on the past without feeling sick he had spent his whole life as some costumed freak spreading fear and chaos through out Gotham City and now that he was free of that identity he could make something of himself perhaps even assist the GCPD to show that he truly was a changed man No! no matter how hard he tried to think of himself as that deep down inside his mind he kept hearing a voice telling him It wasn't over and that his mission was to Become The God Of Fear The Ruler Of Gotham City The Voices kept getting louder and meaner insulting him for giving up on his destiny but Crane had enough of it and burned the mask that had been screaming at him for so many nights at last the nightmare was over....Oh If only that were true.
