Default Should Jean Grey's pedestal be smashed down like Xavier's was?

I have noticed a trend involving how the other X-Characters feel about Jean Grey. They look up to her as a paragon of some sorts as seen how they remember her after her death. Whenever through what she does in a future storyline after she returns or a retcon in the vein of Deadly Genesis, do you think her reputation should be shaken up? How do you think Cyclops, Wolverine, and the others would react to a tarnished Jean Grey? I'm not asking to make Jean a super grimdark puppy kicking anti-hero, I'm just asking how people would feel about the possibility of her reputation among the X-Men getting messed up.

I would like to see them try to do something of the sort. Though I'm not really sure what would be the appropiate story.

ooh, Quentin Quire pregnancy/Xavier's the father maybe?!

Dying will do that. In life, we tend to focus on the good after a loved one dies. It makes sense that the characters would too.

Then again, Jean's rep is and has been tarnished due to the Phoenix.

Jean's not on any pedestal. She's in the depths of some crack whores anus, she can't sink further.

Dark Phoenix is hard to top in terms of pedestal-knocking.

Expect when it's retconned that it wasn't even really her.

Yes to the poll question. Being the ''nice one'' doesn't really hold up as a characterization anymore.

I do think she should still be nice, though. Nice characters are getting fewer and farther between on the X-Books, they need more actual good guys.

i never saw the character of jean grey as nice...it is/was something that seemed to evolve out of various interpretations and comparisons to other characters...

    yet there is a pedestal...there shouldn't be...

but yet again, there is one...did marvel create it through the characters -- or did we...

    Agreed.

Anyway, the JG pedestal is literally only because of two things: the comparison to Emma Frost and our rather large and rabid fan base. Jean Grey always seemed like a regular girl, IMO

I'm not saying she needs to start acting like a bitch..but she can still be nice and have other characteristics too. Outside of Morrison's run the character never had a voice, for me, at least.

I dunno. She always seemed to me to be the Upper-Class New England girl, who was slightly out of her depth in the world of superheroics.

And, just as quickly in "comic book time" that revelation was proven to be misconstrued by all dejecters involved... In all ways that count Jean was Phoenix.

I think she should still be nice for variety's sake.
And Xavier being knocked off his pedestral was awful while all the other trashy characters keep getting one free pass after the other. So no. Who the **** are they to judge?

Xavier's pedestal was an illusory thing anyway. He was never a nice guy, and he was always secretive and manipulative.

Anyway, Jean's the girl next door or the cool older sister. She should be charming and approachable, but that isn't all she should be.
