No it was just adult swim. They wouldn't do all day, that would kill their ratings. Sure the 90s kids would turn in, but their actual audience would have no idea what they're watching.

That was so boss. It was like it was 1995-2005 or so all over again. Too bad the new management at CN only wants to show mental cartoons like Adventure Time all day long.
Thus do I write the first chapter of my new scripture. And the first verse is "Let it all burn."

Those "mental cartoons" actually perform very well which is why they're on the air.

Regular Show for example at one point was the highest rated show in its time slot for CN's target audience.

Okay this was the greatest april fool's jokes ever! To bad it was just that. I mean the only good thing on CN now are days are Bleach, Green Lantern, Young Justice, Pokemon, Thundercats. There are only during the weekend pretty much. New Ben 10 series animation looks horrible. Sad thing is I didn't even know this till about 4 am when I went to watch bleach on my dvr before going to sleep. So I caught end of Blue Submarine and dvred Trigun, Astro Boy, Gigantor.
    Save DCU from DCNU!

Q.: How can you tell when Dan DiDio is lying?
A.: When you see his lips move.

I'd add Regular Show to that, but that's me.

Unfortunately the audience has changed significantly since we were growing up. A lot of the stuff we liked doesn't appeal to the younger generation and vice versa.

Maybe but I don't know. If they were brought up on better stuff then what is on. Sad thing is when you are kid you don't always realize what is really good or bad. Of course I could be wrong.

Fair point. I've gone back and watch some of the stuff I grew up on, and most of it doesn't hold up.

The thing is there should be enough room for things like Adventure Time and Regular Show and Toonami in the same channel. Why can't they coexist? I like them all for what they are.

Hell, I'll even defend the rights of cartoons I consider horrible, like Camp Lazlo, My Gym Partner is a Monkey, Sidekick, Johnny Test and Chowder, to exist as long as they don't take the whole space. I dislike them, but that doesn't mean I feel the network has to deny them to those who like them.

The problem is finding a suitable spot to air Toonami. I highly doubt a new Toonami block would use old anime. That would cut out most of the nostalgic crowd and leave mainly anime fans. But anime doesn't perform all that well compared to say Regular Show or Family Guy. The best bet for an anime block would probably be Saturday nights or late at night on weekdays after the big hitters are outta the way.

I disagree, as a lot of the shows people look back on and realize were terrible are shows I never watched as a kid because I didn't find them appealing.

Then again, that could just be me, and you still have a valid point.

This is the thing. There always seem to be blocks of the same show on, and the all-star stuff is on so very rarely. I remember when The Last Airbender was on Nickolodeon, you pretty much HAD to watch it online, because it was never actually on Nickolodeon. Was kind of the same with Thundercats/Young Justice.

CN now is probably at the best it's ever been since the Toonami Days. The focus is a bit different, but still good. It would be nice to get some more action/drama in there, but oh well.
I will admit... probably the best part of Toonami were the promos.

You almost don't need to change it. Toonami doesn't have to be anime. That's just what was on back in the day. They had Sam Jack and Justice League and Johnny Quest on there, among others. The anime became the highlight focus because that's what they were bringing in.
But it doesn't really matter. Toonami would solely be catering to the 90s fans. I don't really think you could resurrect it and make it something to bring in new watchers. I have no idea what the youth of today would think about that kind of block format. What made Toonami really special wasn't the programming, but the cohesive feel that it was being set aside as something special. That you, Tom, and the other watchers had this kind of bond. That you were being interacted with, and cool stuff was going on apart from a tv show just being on. Adult Swim does much the same thing. It had it's own personality.
