I hope they digitize the other superman issues from this collection soon.
i got back into supes around or a little before the loeb/mcguinness run and it was really good stuff too

i even had some faves in the supermullet era haha

For me, the Superman Animated Series modeled after Bruce Timm's stuff will always be superior to the Superfriends material. It is difficult for me to watch those cartoons while the S:TAS is something I could watch again and again, along with JLA/JLU stuff.
If the shoe fits: "a crankly old man standing just on the edge of a crowd gathered for a concert and stamping his feet yelling at the crowd to stop having fun, that they don't know what fun is."

It's not about the quality of the storytelling, but as noted, many of us here grew up with that era of Superman. Right next to the Reeve films. And it's true for me, that was my first exposure before reading the comics.

But in that regard the Ruby/Spears Superman Series was far superior to S:TAS.

Much better storytelling all around IMO. The S:TAS Superman was a punching bag to me. I HATE that. No one and I mean No one should be able to knock Superman on his ass except in very and I mean very rare occasions.

The Ruby / Spears Series just felt better to me. He was a good mix of Christopher Reeve, Silver age and Byrne Superman all in one and the stories were always top notch with Marv Wolfman writing them. Also the Smallville stories to this day are up there with some of the best storytelling in cartoon form I have ever seen.
