I thought I'd be done with Aquaman, but after reading the Mera Unleashed isssue I'm back on board and interested in the Who Sank Atlantis storyline.
I don't think I'm familar with everyone on cover #8.

The lack of Kahina the Seer is troubling. I really hope she didn't die.

I'm a huge Aquaman fan, but "The Trench" isn't something many newcomers are going to flock to Aquaman for. I stayed cause I'm a fan, but to the average reader they're going to see hyper-evolved angler fish as fodder. This new arc will be the big winner.

Very excited to see where Johns takes this. Arthur's past is now going to be revealed and we'll have some insight to his training before becoming Aquaman.

IMO, you are correct started a bit slow which if this was not having an all star creative team would have been dangerous for lesser titles its important to come out firing on all cylinders. Still I think its always best to wait at least an arc before your top rogue in this case Black Manta arrives on the scene if you can because it allows you to build interest.

    I agree.

How long is this arc anyway Aquaman 10 says only part 4?

Nice Cover, Hope the Seer lives.

    Interested in Ya'wara

"She is a member of the Tapirape, an indigenous tribe of Brazil living in deep in the Amazon rainforest, she has a jaguar, she has a unique power and she has a connection with Aquaman that isn't going to make Mera very happy."

    Hmmmm.

I just researched Tapirape so Congrats to Johns on doing good research since they exist.

    I think it's a 6-part arc... but that's just a wild guess.

If Flashpoint is any indication... Arthur loves him some Amazonians... ;-)

The first thing I thought of when I saw the guy in the foreground (with the gun) is Ocean Master.

    Anyone else?

No, I am not expert but I don't think Orm has ever used such a weapon. I expected it to be the Operative or some random new character.

I was thinking more in terms of color scheme (same as in Flashpoint) and the mask looks like a sleeker redesign.

I admit, I know next to nothing about Aquaman's villains but that was what first popped into my mind (especially after reading Flashpoint this past weekend).

IMO, Aquaman has 3 Villains the average fan would recognize. Black Manta, Ocean Master and King Shark. King Shark obviously looks like a Shark. Now that guy is Black Manta clearly. He and Ocean master don't look that much alike anyway Orm tends to use purple as his main color and Manta uses Black. Plus their facial gear is distinct. Full Helmet with Red Eyes vs complicated Mask. Orm has a weird looking staff and Manta usually has bladed weapons.
