AGE OF X: NIGHTMARE STRIKES BACK
![]()
Log-Line:
When Pixie's magical abilities are nullified by Doctor Strange (see Avengers vs. X-Men), Mrs. Gwynn, the loving mother that she is, is determined to bring out the Nightmare persona to ensure her daughter can protect herself! However, the Faerie's tampering leads to unexpected consequences, leading Pixie to inadvertently cause Utopia to hallucinate themselves back into the Age of X!
In the Age of X reality, will the tyrannical leaders of the Basilisk Cadre be overthrown in favor of a more sinister ruler? The stakes of life and death are just as real in X-MEN: NIGHTMARE STRIKES BACK!
Characters:
Pixie/Nightmare
Mrs. Gwynn
Basilisk, Storm, Submariner, Darkchylde, Gold Mind (Emma Frost), and Magneto (Basilisk Cadre)
Hope Spaulding
Fly Girl (Angel Salvadore), Onyxx, Airstrike (Sofia Mantega), and Cell
Stand-Off, Legion, Cable, Random, and Psylocke (Force Warriors)
Preface:
Pixie is removed from the field when Doctor Strange removes her magical abilities during Avengers vs. X-Men. Sustaining multiple injuries and no longer a vital player as the "free bus ride", she is sitting on the sidelines, helpless.
In the Age of X reality, it is revealed that Logan and Legacy left Fortress X, believing Basilisk's direction for mutantkind would keep them in a constant war. They were later killed, presumably by humans, when they created a school for mutants and humans alike. Prior to their departure, Cell reported their activities to Basilisk, who took no action against the pair.
Solicitations:
AGE OF X: NIGHTMARE STRIKES BACK #1
What's a loving mother to do when her beloved daughter is on the down and out? The seemingly helpless winged mutant seeks out her mother to go back into the battle field as the fearless and powerful Nightmare, but the Faerie's tampering overpowers young Pixie, causing her hallucinogenic dust to rain upon all of Utopia! When everyone rubs their eyes and awakens to their new reality, a political regime has taken over a new Steampunk-inspired Fortress X, promising safety for all mutants through the promise of Weapons of Mass Destruction. But when the Weapons turn out to be a powerful young girl, a group of rag tag mutants calling Nightmare their leader hope to overpower the Basilisk Cadre once and for all.
AGE OF X: NIGHTMARE STRIKES BACK #2
Leading the fortress through fear, the emotionally shaken Basilisk rules Fortress X with his back against the wall. His methods have proven successful and mutants have taken over small countries. Initially making statements of power simply for intimidation, when the world called Basilisk's bluff he had to make a move, leading to devastating attacks against humankind. Under his orders, the undercover group X-Factor, who lived amongst humans to observe them, massacred an anti-mutant rally, leaving the impression that mutants are the monsters humans always believed them to be.
Now, Basilisk molds his youngest crop of mutants into the weapons they were meant to be. His band of New Mutants are a group of hardened children: the street-smart Fly Girl, who has led several mutant rescue missions; the vicious Airstrike whose protective nature has resulted in the death of several humans and mutants alike; Onyxx, a clingy and delusional brick of the group; and Cell, the smooth-talking snitch. Together, with Nightmare, they have been the most effective field team under Basilisk's rule. However, Pixie, unaffected by her own dust, sees all of the death and destruction still befalling their own kind. Random is slowly dying, using his body as a physical shield for Fortress X. Hellion had succumbed to exhaustion as a Force Warrior and several others are dying, while the world becomes more threatened by the mutants at Fortress X. Pixie, in Nightmare's body, instructs the team to spy on Basilisk and discover who he is hiding as his key ingredient to the success of the mutants. Pixie is disheartened to find Hope with sunken cheek bones and pale skin chained to partially filled container labeled "PHOENIX".
AGE OF X: NIGHTMARE STRIKES BACK #3
Pixie promises to break Hope out. Namor and Gold Mind discover the young mutants and Pixie uses her dust to transform the field into a chess board with infinite amounts of pieces. Gold Mind, blindsided by the Nightmare's power increase, blindly attacks each piece while Airstrike and Onyxx take out Namor. The sequence is ended by Hope, who is holding an unconscious Basilisk by his shirt, declaring she is taking over Fortress X.
The whole world goes black. Scenes shift between the House of M reality, Wanda uttering no more mutants, and the birth of Hope. Hope cures its residents of Pixie's dust. The mutants' world has been tampered with so many times and Hope finally feels confident she is meant to be their protector. She converses with each member of the Extinction team and insists she take lead of Utopia if she were to be kept as such a key player. Cyclops and Hope make their arguments in front of all of Utopia, and when Magneto steps behind Hope, a new line is drawn.
Aftermath
Hope, now confident she is the messiah, usurps Cyclops for control over Utopia.
Pixie becomes more proficient at using her pixie dust.
Paranoia is increased among the Utopian residents about Cyclops and Hope.

Mutant Underground II: The Fall of Camelot
Characters Involved:
Captain Britain, Cable, Bastion, Hope Summers, Pete Wisdom, Nightcrawler, Meggan, Shadowcat, Marrow, Darkstar, Fantomex, Three-In-One, Flex, Dr. Doom
Preface:
http://forums.comicbookresources.com...1#post12879371
Following the deaths of Jean Grey, Psylocke, Caliban, Recovery, and Agni at the battle of Cape Canaveral, the remaining few members of the Underground Railroad relocate to the English Countryside to align themselves with Captain Britain and the rebellious group The Knights of Order in order to crush Bastion before he has the chance to do the same to them.
Part 1
At the conclusion of “Underground Railroad” Omega Sentinel was sent back to her native timeline believing that Jean Grey’s sacrifice had wiped away this divergent reality, but Karima was wrong. Following the final battle at Cape Canaveral, the mutant’s struggle for survival has gone from bad to worse with the United Nations Security Council’s decision to pass Bastion’s Operation: Zero Tolerance into action on an international scale. But even though everything seems all too grim for Marvel’s favorite merry mutants, Captain Britain and a small group of heroes known as the Knights of Order fight to save their kind in an increasingly dire situation. But all of that could change when Cerebro picks up an energy pattern similar to that of the Phoenix coming out of the Western Hemisphere…
Part 2
The X-Men live in a world without much hope for the future, but could all of this change when a massive energy signal out of Alaska erupts? Cable and the Knights of Order are on a treacherous journey across a prime-sentinel infested Canada alongside the former Alpha Flight operative; Flex, to get to Alaska before the world’s newest mutant can be killed by Bastion and his cohorts. But Bastion has other plans for these anarchists, and Captain Britain, Meggan, Pete Wisdom and the Cuckoos will find out about his devious plans all too soon.
Part 3
A REBELLION CRUSHED. Bastion’s raid upon Camelot has left the only known operation Cerebro machine destroyed and the majority of the Railroad Agents massacred – including the beloved Stepford Cuckoos! And things aren’t fairing too well for Cable’s side either! With the prized child now in their possession, the Knights of Order have to fight their way across the countryside with waves of Prime Sentinels attacking them at every turn! Will this rag-tag team of mutants be able to save themselves and their last hope before Bastion disposes of them personally?
Part 4
Following Nightcrawler’s valiant sacrifice, the last remnants of a rebellion have been reunited in the sewers of Prague, but the Knights of Order won’t have much time to catch up because Prime Sentinels have been tracking the baby’s energy signature since her discovery in Alaska! With no where to turn, the Knights of Order must trust the rumors that tantalize the mutant community – that a sanctuary for their kind exists in a place untouched by Operation Zero Tolerance, Latveria. The only people they can trust is each other and… Dr. Doom?
Part 5
Bastion and his Prime Sentinels have centered in on Central Europe to stop Captain Britain and his cohorts before they can make it to their sanctuary alongside the one thing keeping the villain from achieving his goal of creating a world without the mutant plague, a baby Hope Summers! But Bastion might be closer to achieving his dream than the Knights of Order might realize when a member of their team reveals their true allegiance! PRIME SENTINEL PETE WISDOM VS THE KNIGHTS OF THE ORDER.
Part 6
After defeating the traitorous prime sentinel infected Pete Wisdom, The Knights of the Order have almost made it to Latveria’s border, but with Bastion and his army of Prime Sentinels descending upon them, this group of mutants will have to make their last stand right! The fate of their world will be decided here!
After-Effects:
- With Captain Britain’s sacrifice the Knights of the Order successfully cross into Latveria, where Dr. Doom makes them his personal mercenary squad.
- Cable begins training a rapidly aging Phoenix infused Hope Summers so that someday they can live in a world free of the plague that Bastion has created.
- The world is saved. For now.

X-Rated
Setup:
After seeing the newest Avengers movie (shameless plug), Mojo demands a X-Men movie to go with it from Major Domo, who states that the last time the X-Men were filmed , it was a couple years ago it happened. Outraged, Mojo loses his temper and turns Domo's head into that of a kitten, claiming he will get his new X-Men movie. Mojo summons Spiral and her Sisterhood (no longer under the rule of the Red Queen) to his side and has a mission for them; assemble as many magic users and reality warpers as they can and bring them to him.
The Story:
Part 1: Amanda Sefton appears on the Jean Grey School's doorstep, worn out and beaten. A team comes to her aid, not before Blindfold interrupts with a vision, hinting that anyone who can shape reality with a thought is in danger. Before anyone has time to react, the Mastermind sisters sneak in and manage to capture Amanda. Back on Utopia, Spiral, Deathstrike, and Chimera go in for the attack and get away with Magik and Pixie. The captured are contained. Among the captured include Legion, Layla Miller, and Margali Szardos. Mojo reveals himself as their captor, who then traps Spiral with the rest, stating their power is at his disposal.
Part 2: X-Factor and the Jean Grey school meet up and count their losses. Blindfold reveals more, stating the mutants will be going on a journey and not everyone will return. Back on Mojoworld, Mojo puts his prisoners under a trance and has them follow his lead. Targetting Earth, Mojo combines his magic with Legion's powers and forms an exact replica of Earth, but shaped in Mojo's vision. Back on Earth, all the mutants are teleported away and reappear spread across Mojo's new world by Pixie, Magik, and Daytripper. Upon landing in the mass wilderness, many of the X-Men are confronted by alternate versions of themselves. At that moment, the cameras start rolling.
Part 3: Mojo's X-Men are out for blood and it's survival of the fittest. The X-Men either kill or be killed whether they like it or not, that is if they haven't hit a trap. On Mojoworld, the crowd goes wild. The teleporters learn teleportation is nullified and they simply can't leave. Kitty splits off manages to make her way out of the wilderness to a nearby city, coming across a giant golden statue of Mojo. Upon arrival, the Reavers, under the hire of the humans, have arrived with Kitty as their target.
Part 4: Back in the wilderness, the blue team and the gold team have to work together if they want to live. The problem, who do you trust? The infiltrators have made their move. Back in the capital, Kitty makes her escape and comes across Alternate Moira MacTaggert, who explains how the world became what it is today. The humans rule society and bet on mutants while they all fight each other to the death. Back in the wild, Rachel, Logan, Emma, and Scott come across alternate Jean, who is not happy to see them one bit. At that moment, Kitty also learns from Moira a magic field surrounds Earth (Layla, Spiral, and Margali), all teleporters in their world have been killed, and that their only means of escape involves the Phoenix Force.
Part 5: Before Jean has any time to react, Rachel shows her memories of their Earth. At that moment, Jean is willing to help them and takes them to the trackers den, found in the Morlock tunnels beneath the capital. Callisto states magic is one of their ways out and that one of the few magic users on Earth can be found with the Reavers: Forge. Elsewhere, Kitty manages to reach Rachel via mindlink and has Kitty lead them to their location. Before she can reach them, she is hit by a blast of energy and her powers no longer work.
Part 6: The Reavers are about to make the kill but are interrupted by the tunnel collapsing. The sentinels are here. Before making her escape, Kitty drags the knocked out Forge with her. Most of the Morlocks are killed on sight by the Sentinels, Cyclops' squad make their escape. Once in the clear, Emma turns to diamond and snaps Jean's neck. Emma saw Kitty's memories and did what she had to. A flame fills the sky and Jean reawakens as the Phoenix. The heroes use that as their beacon, a means to regroup. Jean destroys the field around the planet and teleports everyone from 616 who survived to Mojo himself.
Part 7: The destruction of the field causes a power surge and Mojo's device to stop working. The heroes show up and it's everyone vs Mojo's guards and Mojo himself. With Mojo still harnessing some of the power of his prisoners, Jean steps in. The result, her transformation into the Dark Phoenix. The teleporters are freed and everyone is returned home, just as Dark Phoenix starts to devour Mojo and Mojoworld. Before Mojoworld is annihilated, Mojo teleports himself to the planet she came from and everyone on that planet, including Jean and Mojo, perish among the flames.
Part 8/Epilogue: Everyone is home, or so they think, and the losses are counted. Some heroes were replaced with their alternates, some were killed while on the other world, and many who came from the other world who chose to work with the 616 heroes as means of survival have come back. The X-Men are forever changed. Elsewhere, Mojoworld has a new ruler and she has 6 arms.
The story itself comes with a mini-series tie-in involving all he fights we didn't get to see on panel in greater detail, much like what is happening in AvX; consider the mini-series tie-in something similar the "AvX vs". It is a 8 parter, one issue coming out the same week as the main story. There ae 2-3 fights per issue, depending on who is fighting. Some of the fight displayed include:
Storm vs Alternate Marrow, Magneto vs Alternate Polaris, Mystique teaming up with her alternate self vs Wolverine, Rogue vs Alternate Sunfire, Siryn vs Alternate Banshee, Warpath vs Alternate Thunderbird, Longshot vs Alternate Dazzler, Wolfsbane vs Alternate Feral, Northstar vs Alternate Iceman, Chamber vs Alternate Husk, etc.
