"In addition to endorsing the proposed alien aspect of the upcoming film's title characters"
Where in his comment did he endorse the alien aspect? He just said that at what the writers were doing was awsome, but not he did not say anything about the alien aspect. I am still hoping that Bay is just talking crap to get attention on the project.

So how does it work when it comes to the Turtles? Who owns them as a concept? Because Eastman's the one working on the comics now when Laird isn't, right? And yet I thought that Laird basically owned all of the rights to the Turtles at the moment? So what's going on when the guy who owns the concept is the one who isn't involved and yet Eastman, who apparently washed his hands of the Turtles back in 2000, is now the one working with Bay? What's going on?
I'm sorry, but who cares? Lucas created Star Wars, but that doesn't make anything he's done with it for the last 15 years acceptable.
As for ownership, Nickelodeon owns at least half, I'm not sure if the other party sold their rights as well, or not. My guess would be they own it completely.
Edit: Yeah, they own it all as of October 19, 2009. The creators "opinions" are just that. They have zero say in anything not granted to them by Nickelodeon.

We're at what, Day 10 of Turtle-Gate? I'm just glad no one has died. Yet.
"There's not much of a difference between a stadium full of cheering fans and an angry crowd screaming abuse at you. They're both just making a lot of noise. How you take it is up to you. Convince yourself they're cheering for you. You do that, and some day, they will. And that's how Sue Cs it."- Sue Sylvester, "Glee"
Well...if BOTH creators of the Turtles are good with it, then I guess we can all wait and see what happens, right ?![]()
