"In addition to endorsing the proposed alien aspect of the upcoming film's title characters"

Where in his comment did he endorse the alien aspect? He just said that at what the writers were doing was awsome, but not he did not say anything about the alien aspect. I am still hoping that Bay is just talking crap to get attention on the project.

The quote is from yesterday, so it's probably safe to say that Eastman's up to date on the alien aspect and that it's covered by his thumbs up.

So how does it work when it comes to the Turtles? Who owns them as a concept? Because Eastman's the one working on the comics now when Laird isn't, right? And yet I thought that Laird basically owned all of the rights to the Turtles at the moment? So what's going on when the guy who owns the concept is the one who isn't involved and yet Eastman, who apparently washed his hands of the Turtles back in 2000, is now the one working with Bay? What's going on?

I'm sorry, but who cares? Lucas created Star Wars, but that doesn't make anything he's done with it for the last 15 years acceptable.
As for ownership, Nickelodeon owns at least half, I'm not sure if the other party sold their rights as well, or not. My guess would be they own it completely.
Edit: Yeah, they own it all as of October 19, 2009. The creators "opinions" are just that. They have zero say in anything not granted to them by Nickelodeon.

Hey, be fair now, at least Eastman or Laird or both were partially responsible for the kickass animated series for the Turtles that we had recently.

We're at what, Day 10 of Turtle-Gate? I'm just glad no one has died. Yet.

Well in that case, seriously. Neither or them have right to talk. They're just scoffing the money down that Nickelodeon are going to be throwing at them when this film inevitably makes Transformers-level money.

Well...if BOTH creators of the Turtles are good with it, then I guess we can all wait and see what happens, right ?

Nickelodeon owns the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle s and all subsequent right. A room full of suits are the ones making the decisions. Eastman is most likely working as a consultant of some sort.

They probably won't be getting a dime. They sold the rights to Nickelodeon.

Mr Bay the property you are making is called battletoads, turtles from space. I think you got the wrong property these are mutant turtles, it's an honest mistake after all they are both turtles.

...October 19, 2009, at which point the rights for the entire TMNT franchise were sold by co-creator Peter Laird to Nickelodeon.
