As long as they don't make April O'Neil a trashy teenie bopper again, I'll be fine. I need mah yellow jumpsuit April.

I use to be a Michael Bay fan, but ever since Transformers 2, the mans work has gradually gone downhill. I have no faith that this new TMNT will be good. Still shocked Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird are giving Bay free reign with the Turtles.

Who is directing this by the way? Bays producing right. After Bay's produced film "I am Number Four" are we expecting this to be good?

Just pray the writers nock it out of the park with the script, cause Bay doesn't seem to be able to make any substantial adjustments when he is given a bad to mediocre script. He will just load scenes up with explosions and special effects

At first, I was kinda annoyed that they'd make them aliens instead of mutates. However, it could actually be interesting. Imagine them learning all about Earth culture from old TV and radio transmissions. It could explain some of their personality quirks. I'm not one of those Michael Bay haters. His stuff does tend to require you to check your brain at the door, but he has made a few fun movies. Not great movies, but fun ones. I'm okay with that.

    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

    They're not mutants. Technically, they're turtle-like aliens.

I also doubt they'll receive ninja training once arriving on Earth, so they can't be "ninjas."

Michael Bay will probably make them ancient and wise, so they won't be teenagers, either.

I'll take Bay's side on this one. Chill the fuck out and give it a chance. Or don't. Who cares.

Why didn't Bay just do a Biker Mice from Mars movie. I bet the turtles fly and can shoot energy blasts

Yeah, but MTV really isn't exactly Music Television anymore, right? Simply referring to the movie as TMNT is fine. No big deal.

I get the sense that there's absolutely nothing Michael Bay can do anymore that will stop some of this venomous hate towards him. I may be in the minority, but I actually enjoyed Transformers 2 and 3. I actually enjoy movies that overdo the style while at least making an effort at substance. Let's face it, the origins for TMNT has been done in a myriad of ways in other movies and shows. Bay is now seeking something different and why shouldn't he? Say what you will, the man does have a good track record. He brought the Transformers to life and made them a big success (critical reception aside). He has a chance to do something similar with TMNT and whether he does something new or retells the same story that was told in the first movies, people are going to hate him. He's just one of those polarizing figures and I doubt he can do anything to dispell that sentiment.

Agreed. Like all Bay movies, it'll be total overkill, but who really cares? The hardcore fans aren't going to be the ones to make this succeed at the box office anyway. The audience is going to be bigger than that. The original cartoon was a deviation from the darker source material, yet people love the hell out of it today. I say give it a chance. It may initially shock you, but it might also make you a convert too. You never know.

Though I'm assuming the movie will suck and am not much of a fan of Micheal Bay, I don't really have issues with a movie changing the history and origins of a franchise.

Does anyone think Whedons Avengers movie will be anything close to what Stan Lee wrote in Avengers 1? Of course not. But I don't see a lot of people complaining about that, and frankly I'm not sure anyone should be.

Movies are a different medium. Changes are almost always a given.

I don't really care. Bay's take sounds really dumb, but so does mutated turtles who learn to be ninja from a mutated rat. The only difference is that I grew up with one of those stories and I only heard about the other one yesterday. I'm not going to see Bay's version and I'm not going to complain about it. I'll stick with the stories I loved from my childhood and be happy.

I didn't really care either way. Just sounds dumb to remove an aspect that's in the name... when you're using the name.

Not like I was gonna rush out and see it anyway.
