    Default Questions for Brian Wood

Well, we had had a thread for Nick Spencer, so why not ask our new Ultimate X-Men writer, Brian Wood, who also posts here, some questions?

Obviously, we will ask stuff he can't answer. There will be some that he won't want to answer, for fear of spoiling anything. There will even likely be some go unanswered, just to egg us on. But hopefully, we can learn a thing or two about the plans, thoughts, and motivations behind the writer who will likely become a new favorite to some of us.

    I'll start us off:

    Mr Wood -

First off, it's great to see your name attached to Ultimate X-Men! Prior to your deal with Marvel to take over from Nick Spencer, were you an Ultimate fan? Was Ultimate X-Men in the Millar/Bendis/Vaughan/Kirkman days a book you kept up with, or are you relatively new to the Ultimate Universe? As you prepare to take the series in your own direction, which story arcs or characters from the past 100 or so issues stick out to you as your favorites or as inspiration for your run?

Thanks in advance if you end up answering any questions. And while I will miss Nick Spencer, I eagerly await your take on the series.
I like Ultimate Comics. - Read them with us!

I also buy: Captain America, Avengers, FF, New Avengers, X-Factor, among others

Who's your favorite character to write?
If you could use any character in your story who would it be?
What are your thoughts on the "death means dead" rule?
If you could work with any comic book artist, live or dead, who would it be?
Will you be doing any variant covers for Ultimate Comics: X-Men?

Thank you for taking time to answer and I am looking forward to seeing your work!

This is not really a question but a request. Please leave Jean Gray with the People.
    And bring back the Magician.

How are you going to prevent Ultimate Comics: X-Men from becoming too similar to the 616 X-Men? (Something which happened in Kirkman's run on Ultimate X-Men.)

First off I wanted to say I really liked Dv8 Gods & Monsters. I loved the way you worked to pitch the project and I've been following your work ever since.

Please let Kitty keep the costume that's on the Jorge Modina Variant cover. She gives a wolverine vibe in that costume.

Apart from Kitty & Co, can you give us any hints to other characters appearing in your book?

Will the young mutants Kitty saved in issue #6 be developed and used?

I love the sound of X-Men being very character driven/political and cohesive with The Ultimates word-changing stuff, but how will this tie in with Spider-Man? Will that be more cohesive too to fit in with these big events in X-Men & The Ultimates? (I suppose thats a question for Bendis really )

Will we get an answer to "Who is god?" & "What do you know about the last time the world ended?"

Also do you have any plans to include Ultimate X & The People?

Gah! Sorry, I'm on a brutal deadline this week for both Conan The Barbarian and The Massive*. I'll try and get to these but just understand that I have to let Marvel determine when some of this info is disseminated out into the world.

In the meantime, check out the post I made here: http://brianwood.tumblr.com/

    Thanks!!

Yep, I designed that, along with Jorge Molina. It's staying.

And this is why I love creators who talk to their fans! Great to see you show interest about what we ask. Can't wait to see what you bring to the book!

(also, loving the subtle plug there)

It's nice to see you and Marvel having a team book with a lead female taking in charge.

Well this is unexpected. Are you going to continue the "God" theme in your run? Or is Spencer going to be done with it. Good Luck on your Ultimate Comics X-Men gig.

Answering robcastor729 question answered my question I had about the X-Men suits, so thanks for taking the time to do that.
