Well, it's an idea... but maybe not such a good one. I'm all for more Remy screen-time in the X-books, but can't really see him anf Jean as a viable couple. I'd be more interested in seeing the relationship between Gambit and Frenzy further explored, or better yet, a romance between Gambit and Dr. Reyes.

How do Phoenix and Remy fans feel about these two together?
Nah... Reminds me too much of WildC.A.T.s/X-Men

Well. and this is likely my own revisionist little version it, essentially the story implied the Phoenix Force was also into Scott. Pretty much like a deranged ex girlfriend type of the deal, a big part of that was tied to Scott's power, and when it realized he moved on to Emma it attempted to posses her to get back with him, till Jean pretty much regained control of it and told it to move on. By those standards I could see it working. Especially if the whole third Summers/clone thing can still apply.

It would just need to be the right host. That's not Rachel.

I'm always liked the idea of Gambit and Phoenix hooking up. I'd have no problem with it. Cyke has moved on as has Rogue. It would work for me. :)

Cyke has "moved on" because he was forcibly "nudged" by Phoenix to move on to prevent a dystopian future. It wasn't natural. It wasn't organic. When he realizes this, he's going to be outraged, tell them all to go F themselves, and go steal Sue Storm away from Autism man.
VIVA KUSASAN!!! Morrison On Magneto: I made him into a stupid old drug-addicted idiot. CC had done a lot of good work over the years to redeem the character. And I went in and sh*t on all of it.

This would not work for the simple fact that Marvel would never let a couple like that be happy. Writers would just introduce unnecessary drama and fans of both characters would just get pissed off. Gambit and Jean both need to be in less high profile relationships because then it is less likely for the writers to sabotage it with soap opera drama.

Now on the other hand, Gambit can flirt with her incessantly and she can play along as Gambit needs to find his balls again and Jean could use a drama free fun rather than be the object of Cyke and Wolvy's pissing contest.

Eh, why not. Seeing Cyke's inevitable hissy fit and Rogue's WTF reaction would be more than worth it.

You could make the same arguement for Rogue's "moving on". She was forcibly "nudged" into forgetting everything Magneto did to her in the past by Legion messing with her mind and those "feelings" obligatedher to keep memories which she acted upon. I find it interesting everyone is telling Frenzy (rightfully so) to get over her AoX forced love for Cyclops but Rogue's "friends" like Rachel are actively encouraging her to decide about her "deep" and "caring" feelings for Magneto while no one questions that if they came partially or otherwise from a forced attack on her mind. The X-Men are such crappy friends (at least they didn't know about the Phoenix's suggestion to Cyclops, they are well aware of Rogue being under Legion's mind attack). You'd think a psi might be a little more concerned about her friend's mind being messed with.

As for Gambit and Jean - it makes more sense than Rogue and Magneto so given we have one, nothing would surprise me.

Oh, I hadn't known that before. Thank-you for the information and I agree, not Rachel.

I also hope it won't have to do with the 3rd Summers angle though because I like the idea of Gambit as his own man.

The covers alone of those two (Phoenix/Gambit) would be a sight to see!

You just blew my mind! You're right. Everybody is telling Frenzy to get over the fake feelings but noone is telling Rogue to get over her fake feelings.

I was just thinking about New Sun having blown up his entire planet and the similarity with what happened with Jean/Phoenix. Something else they could talk about.

Jean did say that Gambit was sexy in X-Men #1.

Gambit also snuck into Jean's mind without her knowing in Uncanny X-Men #381.

Jean was Gambit's second in command during the Revolution era.

Jean got Lorna a Gambit-look-alike stripper.

Just shows that Jean does have a crush on him. This could be fun even if we never see it. :)

To be more honest about this era, every women had the hots for Gambit when he was first introduced. That was basically his most potent mutant ability. He's clearly lost that swagger now. He's settling for being friends with benefits with CeCe.

I like Gambit and Rogue together but I suspect that relationship is well and truly over - Liu is already planning more lovers for Gambit, and the fact that he has a photo of bloody X23 (why is that second rate copycat so popular) instead of Rogue in his apartment is proof of Liu's contempt for Gambit/Rogue. And I'm sorry to say this but I have a strong feeling Rogneto is here to stay - but I've lost most of my affection for Rogue now she's become superwimp. So why not Gambit/Jean? We have Scott/Emma, Kitty/Iceman, Psylocke/Fantomax so apparently anything goes! And if I was Gambit I'd wash my hands of a woman who's chosen a psychological bully over the man who risked everything for her and have some fun!

Interesting. Do you think Gambit can explode his own semen? That's some money shot.
