Only time will tell. Given that Marvel's publishing a Punisher in space mini, it's possible they may have relaxed a little on their sales expectations. That's not exactly the type of story that could ever be expected to sell well.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!

i see The Punisher as one of my favorite characters, and that is not because he is main stream as the other characters in marvel it is probably because he is more of a cult read, it is a character with a lot of psychological issues.
i loved read the MAX series by ennis and that will always be one of my favorite series by marvel, i would love for them to go as dark as that with him more, i am not a big fan of the stuff when there is a lot of cameos by other characters in the marvel universe

Eh, not sure. I mean if the series sells well they're going to spin it off into other tales like the "Noir" series. But I guess "sell well" can be relative if they have different expectations on levels to meet on different titles, it would just mean that Marvel has changed it's policy, because I thought they've been pretty consistent about this in the past.

What would make me buy Punisher? Lets see....

    1. Change the writer. Rucka is still trying to live out his Gotham Central days by making this an uber realistic cop series. Replace him with someone who can do some good street level characters or add some realism. Go grab Bendis or Millar. Bendis did a great job on making street criminals/mob affairs in his DD days. Millar could also give it that cinematic edge that he needs.

    2. Update it. Punisher is a great character to face real world style problems. The Punisher should be taking on terrorists, Somali pirates, drug lords in border towns, crazed ptsd war vets, evil wall street billionaires with private security contractors at their whim, African warlords with child armies. Throw in some marvel elements like stolen stark, richards, and doom tech or the recently missing dna from most of the avengers and you can have some exciting stories. Likewise if I was writing it I would start by getting a list of Marvel baddies who aren't cared about or are unimportant - so Punisher will have plenty of people he can kill off.

I disagree with adding Bendis. He already tried recently with Moon Knight and it still didn't sell well

Place him in World War II or just after it, hunting Nazis.

Your right on that one. I was just trying to jog some Marvel writers who are good at doing street level characters. Which seems they don't really have many. Bendis used to be it, but now he is more into events and big characters/teams.

Brubaker wouldn't be bad. Or maybe even look towards some independent companies and steal one of their up and coming writers.

Why is this book still going at all? I mean how many different versions of this character are we going to have before Marvel just gives up trying?

I don't get your complaint. you say that you DON'T want an "uber realistic cop series," but say you want a writer to "add some realism." That's totally contradictory. And I'd say that it doesn't get more street level than Gotham Central.

Kind of lol'd at the idea of Millar writing the Punisher as well. It'd most likely just be mindless, over-the-top gore and violence and little of anything else.

Omnibus, certainly not. I think were heading to UC territory. Just like Rucka's runs on Wolverine and Elektra.

You know nothing of any "policy" because it doesn't exist.

Why do you make up so much stuff? I mean you "quit Marvel" , right? (ha ha)?
