They should have one Punisher book where it's street crimes, drug lords, etc...and one where he's more involved in the super-hero World.

I've never been a Punisher comics fan, though the character has always seemed awesome to me. I tend to like less powers-based characters and more incredibly fit/trained/geared/etc characters, like Punisher, Hawkeye, and Batman. However, I've never been able to pick up anything with that actually has the Punisher and enjoy it, that goes for comics, games, and movies. Disappointing, really.
I currently read both "Amazing Spider-Man" and "Daredevil" and of course will get "Punisher" #10 when "The Omega Effect" storyline comes out. If I liked it then I might get the TPB of the first arc of Rucka's current run.
To be honest, I read "Welcome Back, Frank" recently and it's the only Punisher story I've ever read. Well, I liked it and I want to get more into Ennis' Punisher run before I start with Rucka's.
I don't know. The new book is ok, but it comes off as pretty dull and boring a lot of the time. I loved both Punisher MAX series and I enjoyed Remender's series. The current series seems to be trying to go with the grit of the MAX series, but it left out the goofy fun that was there.
I really dig the current Punisher storyline. The MAX series had a good ending, but it was pretty uneven after Ennis left, and even Aaron's run got me close to dropping it a few times. (Last issue of PunisherMax by Aaron pales next to Ennis' Punisher: End FWIW)
I think it was stupid when Aaron divided Punisher max into his own universe, btw. Ennis never had to do that to tell great stories. The Punisher, like Batman, is a simple enough character that there are really infinite stories you can tell.
What Rucka is doing now is what I would expect from a PG-13 Punisher. Punisher sidekicks and him turning into zombies/angels is the way to scare me off. Go Rucka!

I got confused with the MAX and 616 uni and never picked one up.
I will see what happens during Omega effect. I hate jumping in mid arc
When was MAX ever shown to be it's own universe? Prior to Aaron I mean.

Bring back FrankenCastle...I'm being very serious. Remender would have done a better job had he been given time.
from th looks from the preview for avenging spider-man it looks like we're going to get more Frank Castle in it and now with Spidey's No one dies rule it will definitely bump heads

I thought it was a shame Rick didn't get the chance to tell his Frankencastle story the way he had planned it. He had plans for the dirty dozen and a revenge list for Frank to get through that was cut short before it really got started. Major kudos for him for taking the opportunity to do something different with the Punisher that embraced the lunacy of the Marvel Universe and yet still managed to stay true to the character and write him in a way which was undeniably Frank. It was an enjoyable, fun, well written but tragically shortlived run. Bear in mind, this is coming from a Punisher fan who would rather the Punisher was not part of the spandex clad silliness of the Marvel Universe AT ALL. Would have loved to see what Rick had planned for his dirty dozen arc. Funny thing is, I can remember alot of fans blaming Ricks Frankencastle run for poor sales of the book. Along comes Greg Rucka, telling a less wacky, more recognisable Punisher tale...and its selling even worse! Which is unfortunate, because I am enjoying Gregs run as well. It has its flaws buts its been pretty good.
CrazyHermit, its up to you if you want to dismiss other Punisher stories outside of Ennis and MAX out of hand...but with great 80's and 90's stories by excellent writers such as Steven Grant, Mike Baron, Carl Potts and Chuck Dixon (who is one of my all time favourite Punisher writers alongside Ennis), I find it puzzling why you would not want to check them out as a fan of the character. By the way, Jigsaw wasn't killed in the Punisher MAX story "Girls in White Dresses". He managed to escape.
The only pre-Ennis Punisher stuff I'd like to read is the contents of the first Essential volume, and thats more out of a curiosity or historical interest than an actual interest in the stories themselves.
