And Magi continues to raise it's game with each chapter.
Aladdin is the man.
There is a giant slum somewhere. This is the good scenario.
Those "absent" people are being drained of their MP for production of the magic tool exports and keeping the magic systems of the city running. This is the bad scenario.
New chapter out:
So yeah, this country is corrupt to the core.
"I checked the abandoned warehouse, only to find it abandoned..."
Well, as far as karmic justifications for Naziesque bullshit go, Evil Dumbledore's excuse is better than most.
Potter fic writers ought to take notes. This is more or less what a Greater Good Dumbledore would be like.
I'm downloading the first episode of Magi now! Can't wait to watch it.
Okay, finally caught up. This manga is better than I expected.
Which do you think is the most likely?
- Aladdin manages to redeem the place.
- The magicians gets horribly curbstomped when the much more hyped Kou Empire shows up. Probably involving Judal laughing at Evil Dumbledore's theory that magicians don't seek war and murder.
- Aladdin redeems the place and then it gets curbstomped.
Suffering is a fact of life. You survive if you find a reason to endure it.
The dreams and ideas of free men are as an army of shadows, and as impossible to strike down...
"Yes, you're better than you ever were, but I'm still me."
Simbad arc starting now.
Also, I'll give this to Evil Dumbledore. He is a foolish, foolish old man doing terrible things out of trauma, but in his own twisted way he truly cares and he is brave enough to stick to his guns.
I predict that this will all blow up in Evil Dumbledore's face somehow, giving him an "Oh God what I have I done?" moment, possibly before it kills him. There's be some fatal flaw in the design, or Al Sarmen sabotages the operation somehow. He's not a villain, at least I doubt it, but in this kind of story you can't turn people into livestock and not suffer some kind of karmic backlash.
"This doesn't look easy. But I bet it is!"
"Optimism through stalwart skepticism is a defect not everyone is lucky enough to be cursed with."
