I didn't see in the article if Atlus is publishing or developing, and who is developing if Atlus is publishing.
But that's fricken weird if they outsourced this to Atlus.
Nothing's gonna happen without a warning
Only published by Atlus. Dev'd by some guys called Cyanide Studios.
A quick search reveals that they've only ever made one other game: "Chaos League," a fantasy (as in orcs and elves) football game for PC that surprisingly wasn't terrible.
Unfortunately.....that was way back in 2004. Nothing from them since.
Am I the only person that doesn't remember Riverspring and Castlewood? Mind you, I've only read the books once, but those just don't sound right from tv either.

I think they were created exclusively for the game.
Read about this in the latest Game Informer. They have a reputation for being really harsh on games, but gave a somewhat favorable review on this preview. They basically called it a Dragon Age clone, which is fine by me. They also stressed that the game is really more for fans of the books/show, not necessarily a game developed and aimed at 'hardcore' gamers.
I'm a fan of the books, but this game sounds dull as hell. I really hope it's better than what this preview suggests.
Sounds like another cheap game of thrones game.

They made the last game, a not at all well made RTS that had little to do with the source material and nothing to do with being a good RTS.
So i go back to my original question.
What idiot controls the license for this series?

Dev'd by some guys called Cyanide StudiosMore recently they made Blood Bowl, adaption for PC and some consoles (don't remember which) of the famous board-game.that was way back in 2004. Nothing from them since
And well, good job.
Is this a rhetorical question? GRRM obviously never signed the rights of these books and it's characters over to anyone. Calling him childish names because he obviously does not know that much about the video game industry is not going to get you the ASoIaF game you always dreamed of.
He needs an agent. Or a better one than he has.
I'm going to assume he has some care for the world he created, letting a random company who has already shown failure in one game based on his property, and then going back to them for a second game, just tells me he doesn't care. Which i get, he has a successful writing career and now his books are a hit television show.
Now, i would like to say "Well, clearly he just wanted the money." But even that doesn't make sense, because i find it almost impossible to beleive a company who has never made a successful game offered him the most money in a world that has EA and Activision in it.

Assuming you did not enter the comic book fandom yesterday, you should know that licensing deals can be sticky. Maybe he had some sort of deal with Atlus where they hold the license for 10 years or for 5 games, or something like that (which I am guessing is the most likely case). Maybe he did go to EA or Activision and they told him to piss off. Maybe there was a bidding war and Atlus was actually able to offer more money. Who knows.
The fact of the matter is that fans of the show and book will probably buy the game, and "hardcore" gamers who don't know the show/books will probably take a pass, and "hardcore" gamers who are also fans of the show/books will probably log onto messageboards and bitch and moan about how it does not live up to its potential.
Game Informer gave it a fair shake, and like I said they are known the be extremely harsh. I'll be interested in reading their full review.
Either way, I'm buying it.
Fans of the game didn't buy the last game, advertising dollars don't magicly appear.
Game Informer isn't known to be harsh....Game Informer is known to give good reviewers to games that they got early information on even if it isn't good.
The game very well could be good, i will give you that, but it's made by people who have never made a good game, and already made one horrible Game of Thrones game that wasn't successful.
Also, just as an aside, Atlus didn't publish the last game, it was made by an almost unknown developer and published by a small time company i've never heard of, which is why i said he needs a better agent originaly.

I'm usually not a snob about graphics but that looks a little dated to me.
I really want to play as a brother of the Watch though so I might give it a try.
