It makes sense, he's seen what happens to a marriage when you keep that kind of secret. So he probably wanted to start fresh and make sure she knew everything.

I'm wondering how many women Don has cheated on Megan with.

Eh, Lane has done his fair chair of adultery and such. Though he's certainly not as much of a dick as the other male characters.

I'm not so sure. While some of the other characters in the show certainly act like they hate getting older, Don seemed to really be upset because the birthday reminds him of all his lies. As he said, he turned 40 six months ago.

Plus I think the surprise party pissed him off. I'm not sure if Megan was right or wrong to give him a party. On one hand she was doing it because she cares. On the other hand, you think if you've been with a person for a year that you would know whether or not they are the type of person to throw surprise parties for. I actually expected her and Peggy to get into an argument about who knows Don better when Peggy was bringing up how Don probably wouldn't like a surprise party.
You could say the party was as much about Megan than it was about Don in some ways.

and yeah no Betty at all which is a little weird.

Why would you think he has cheated on Megan? there has been no indication so far.

i don't think he has. but it's sort of inevitable. this relationship will die of a self-inflicted injury.

It's Don Draper, it's not a question of if he's going to cheat..but rather when. It's not that I couldn't see some woman eventually coming along and taming him, but I really don't see Megan being that woman.

I don't know besides Megan being hot and good with the kids i don't quite understand what he sees in her completely - her naivety and her youthfull enthusiasm and her liberal mindedness is already starting to cause friction.

But then we don't really know what Don looks for in a woman besides good looks he is kind of a man whore so we never really get to figure out what his "type" is if he even has any.

But the age and maturity difference is already causing some problems and Betty wasn't all that mature either for her age.

I don't think Don is attracted to women who are his equal in looks and brains.
the two women he has shown no real attraction to where Dicks wife(R.I.P) and Joan both of whom are smart and confidant strong women who take no bullshit from anyone who could have put him in his place in a minute when he does his typical stupid things.

It also doesn't bode well for the relationship when prior to getting engaged that had only known each other in passing, and hadn't even been dating for a day. I'm honestly surprised they lasted this long. In some ways Don is like a child in an adult body, he had a fun time with Megan over the period of a few days and instead of simply seeing where the relationship might go he asks her to marry him. I don't know, maybe the 60's were just that utterly boring and Don didn't have much else to do besides getting into a marriage bound to fail.

Or perhaps Don will feel what it's like to be cheated on with Megan having an affair. Now, I know Betty technically did cheat on him..but that only happened because he did it first.

Honestly, he would of been much better off if he stayed with Faye.

He didn't know much about Betty either when he proposed to her right? i'm not sure where i'm pulling that from cause it was never shown but it wouldn't surprise me.

I wouldn't call it "child like" as much as impulsive and stupid just like when considered leaving the country cause he was afraid of being found out or spending almost a whole summer in Cali.

Faye ? was she the hot blonde therapist? Don's had so many lovers i can barely keep track of them, especially when i watched so many shows in a row trying to catch up.

She's a Sub who likes to play at being a Dom. I don't think she'd cheat either.
Don might be beyond serial cheating since he's "40.*" I think The Sopranos did something similar as Tony got older his power was still there but the will and the looks are what slowed him down on that front. Yes Draper is still handsome but he's not going to be a panty-dropper in the late 60s anymore.

    * Honestly I'm going to ignore the "I've been 40 for 6 months." bullshit since it makes no sense in the show. Dick couldn't have been 6 months older than the original Don Draper. It always made more sense for part of Dick's allure as Don Draper was that he was younger looking and seemingly then he was..but he actually wasn't. He was playing older.

Someone on another board pointed out that Pete is entering a stage in his life that Don was in when the show started and Roger is going to be entering Burt Cooper territory.

I'm pretty sure that when Dick assumed the Don Draper identity he kept his own age but changed his birthday. He didn't go around pretending to be older than he actually was, but the original Don Draper really was significantly older than Dick Whitman. I seem to recall that being brought up in one of the earlier seasons.
    Slayven ftw.

lol i don't know about all that but she seems like someone who wouldn't cheat and would be loyal to the person she married and she would do her best to keep the marriage working.
I personally think women are less likely to cheat than men for numerous reasons.

I don't know women do like older men and if he is still as good looking at 60 than he is at 40 i don't see why not.

Yeah that was a major burn because it's so true especially for men.

All I know is that they mentioned they met when she was a model. Though I think they did date a little before getting married since I remember a scene where Don is telling Anna that he's getting married and needs a divorce.

Though I suppose to only got engaged to Megan after one day, I'm not sure how long they waited to get married.

She was his main squeeze from the 4th season, she..I'm not sure what she exactly was. She was some type of doctor, I think. Probably a psychologist or something to help better understand how to best gain new customers. She's the one that Don was basically dating until he dumped her for Megan.

I don't think she would of ever thrown Don a surprise party, I can say that much about her.

    i remember that too.
I keep saying that Anna would have been perfect for him even if she isn't quite as hot as his usual girls.

It would certainly be interesting to know

I remember her clearly now she was very sophisticated and smart and probably too good for Don.

Who Fay? i can't see it but who knows.
