Default Scarlet Spider #3 - Spoilers and Discussion!

Anyone read this yet? It's easily my favorite book currently

    spoilers:
The issue begins three weeks ago. It shown despite his best efforts, Dr. Meland has failed to save a man's wife and daughter involved in a car accident.
For some reason the man is devastated and does not take it well, swearing revenge on Meland and having to be restrained and escorted out.

Moving forward to the present day, Kaine stops a mugging, making the mugger urinate all over himself in fear. Kaine leaves, telling himself that's what SPIDER-MAN would have done. Amusingly as Kaine is webslinging through Houston, he runs out of skyscrapers and crashes into a lower building.

Back at the Four Seasons, Kaine is in need of help with regards to Aracely and enlists the aid of the ginger bartender, whose name is Annabelle Adams. There is an exchange where Kaine says his first and last name is "Kaine". As Annabelle and Kaine go up to Kaine's room, Aracely has woken up and in a panic attacks both of them, unaware of her surroundings and situation. Chaos ensues. Fortunately Dr. Meland arrives in time to rectify the situation. There is a humorous exchange during the resolution of the fracas where Annabelle gets the wrong idea and assumes Kaine is a pervert. Dr. Meland examines Aracely and determines she needs more medicine and will go back to the hospital (still closed due to the fire damaged caused by Salamander) to retrieve some.

At the hospital we see Dr. Meland stealing some drugs for Aracely, where he is surprised by the arrival of Kaine in stealth mode. After a brief conversation in Meland's office, it is revealed that Meland and Office Layton are homosexuals and married. As Meland stares outside his office window, he is the target of an sniper, but Kaine is there to save him.

Kaine confronts the sniper but after gassing Kaine, the sniper gets away. However the sniper recognizes who Kaine is, despite his shaved appearance. Kaine, unmasked again, retreats to see to Meland and the newly arrived Officer Layton. Kaine informs Meland that someone wants him dead, but now they will be after Kaine himself too. "They" meaning...

THE ASSASSIN'S GUILD. (whoever they are)
    end of spoilers

This issue was awesome, Yost and Stegman are really doing an AMAZING job on the book with just about EVERYTHING. Anyone who hasn't tried this book, I strongly recommend you give it a chance. Yost really understands Kaine, and I love how he is building the supporting cast. Stegman's art is fantastic in this issue. My only complaint is the swearing is censored and not enough blood and gore depicted. Also, at this rate pretty much everyone in Houston will know who the Scarlet Spider is

Grade: A+ I can't say enough good things about this series!

I bucking love this book. I can't even complain about anything. Comic book art at it's finest.
There's a bit of Spider-Man in all of us.

Does anyone know why they don't use profanity? Instead all we get are skull and crossbones and symbols

I'm afraid even mentioning this will may unleash the term bigot, but is anyone surprised at how many gay characters are being introduced (or coming out) recently?

Eh, people are just becoming more tolerant around the world, so more than others. Perhaps it was because of the great films, Brokeback Mountain, 'Milk' and Sean Penn promoting tolerance and all of homosexuals at the Oscars. Gaming too are having homosexual characters (DA1-2, ME3, Skyrim, and other RPGs). Perhaps in order to make people more tolerant with Girls With Glasses, maybe I should make a oscar-winning film with a strong female with glasses lead

As for the issue, Scarlett Spider Man and Ultimate Spider Man are becoming more and more enjoyable with every new release. I can't wait to see more of the supporting cast and villains in Scarlett Spider-Man (kinda tired of the 'Classic' cast of Villains in ASM making a recurring appearance. I'm leaning towards new villains)

Nah, this is just one of the perks of having lived to an age where gay people are getting more mainstream acceptance and respect. You can actually have gay supporting cast members, and over in DC Comics, gay superheroes headlining their own titles. And I'm not gonna call you a bigot, because that's a fair question to ask. All the same, it's just one of the perks of having lived to see a greater age of tolerance and respect for people that aren't necessarily perceived as "mainstream."

Gay civil rights replaced black civil rights a good 10-15 years ago. If youre gonna remain topical it has to reflect societys changes.

Yeah, I've noticed there hasn't been much negativity towards the characters on these boards (or anywhere else for the most part), which is great!
