Uh...no. I like Luke Cage and all (not as much as Bendis, obviously) but no way is he even remotely in Namor's strength class. Granted, even Spider-Man has been able to knock Namor down if he gets a lucky shot in, but that was usually when Subby had been out of water for awhile.
In the water? Cage is going to get his head handed to him (had to clean that up).
Cage vs Sub-Mariner...underwater...?
This shouldn't be a fight...it should be a straight foward knock out.
Luke Cage shouldn't stand a chance in the water, but watch, they'll write Namor getting knocked out. His role lately seems to be making others look good.![]()
Gotta say I have little to no interest in reading the VS titles of AvX. The combos either seem way uneven (either power wise or popularity wise) with a pretty obvious winner or they are just not that original or interesting.
Which is ridiculous. Dude is a true powerhouse. It would be like Hawk from Hawk & Dove knocking out J'onn J'onnz or Superman or anyone in that strength class.
There's "has more endurance and fighting skills" and then there's "woefully outclassed." Forget about Luke's "street fighting skills," Namor was taking out entire armies decades before Luke was even a lustful gleam in his father's eyes.
(Now T'Challa I could see taking out Namor, but only because he's Marvel's Batman) :D
Oh Luke Cage is going down!

So two AvX teases showing Avengers punching X-Men. I hope this isn't a sign of the outcome. Well the X-Men don't have a film coming out I suppose.
What the Avengers should've done last year was getting their powerful members back (like Sersi - i liked her) so they can go toe to toe with Cyclop's extinction team. they keep pitting avenger members againt x-men who are waay out of their league. readers aren't stupid to believe that Cage could be a match for Namor...
and look at Red Hulk - i may be misinterpreting it - but it shows a cowardly strike at Colossus. Should they have picked a diff image depicting the battle?
At least Namor serves some purpose for existing.Anyway, Cage has been able to take worse from stronger adversaries. Water or no water, Namor is gonna have to bring his A game to Cage's A-team. (See what I did there? Double meaning
)

Really? What stronger adversaries? Has Cage going toe to toe with the Thor and the Sentry? Namor fights the Hulk regularly. There aren't that many stronger than Namor, especially in the water.
Water means drowning, amongst other things, like having no leverage and being much slower moving through a liquid, plus having no experience fighting while floating without any references.
Are they kidding , that's like a fluffy puppy Vs tiger fight. I will take very good writing and a huge amount of PIS to make it last more than a panel
Pain shared is divided, joy shared is multiplied
Well I will say this JRJR's art is at an all time high right now. this looks great.
I think this could be decent if Namor doesn't go 100%. I mean yeah its a curbstomp. But the way Cage is written nowadays he isn't a huge step below Thing. So I could see him hanging in for a few punches. His durability is his biggest strength. Well if its on dry land.
In the water I don't know what they were thinking
