If this had been the other way around - a black man shooting to death an unarmed non-black teenager - we all know he'd be behind bars right now, with a prosecutor calling for the death penalty. There is no way in hell he would have been allowed to walk free after claiming self defense.

It's not really north or south Florida. Sanford is just north of Orlando (virtually a suburb considering how spread out Orlando is) so it's kind of on the dividing line. Seminole County went for Obama in 2008 by a couple hundred thousand votes (51% - 48.2%).
