Well that's just awful but at least he's no longer suffering with an illness. R.I.P.

It's absolutely tragic. He was one of the real greats, a true creative. I love his concept work for Alien and The Fifth Element. Whilst the world is really poorer without him, I have to imagine that he's better off, if his illness was as bad as they're saying. RIP Jean Giraud.

Condolences to his loved ones and fans. A great talent and a true visionary. We can't replace him, but we can learn from his legacy.

Well, at least he's not suffering anymore. One of the most brilliant artists who's ever worked in the field.

One of the worst mornings of my life. This man changed my entire perspective on what comics can and could be and opened my horizon. A master and nice man too

Silver Surfer aside, it'd be nice to find some omnibus-style trades out there. I've always been aware of his work, but never could find a definitive "book" to chew into. Has the bulk of his work ever been translated, or is most of it still in native French?

he has a bunch of work translated in English and readily available. The Incal, as example, was just (re) released over here.
he had another book hit the stands, like, two weeks ago? damn, what was it called... ?? oh, duh, Madwoman. as listed above.

"Madwoman of the Sacred Heart" was released in TPB last month, and "Incal" is being re-released in HC in May.

Absolutely gutted over this, Giraud was one of my biggest heroes and was very influential in my development as an artist. I don't think there'll ever be anyone with a scope as vast and varied as this man to grace the medium in years to come. RIP one of the true comic greats.

Am sadder about this than I thought I would be. Had no idea he was ill. Rest in Peace, sir.
