I just re-read the original Secrets Wars. Awesome stuff! This whole AvX stuff really made me nostalgic for the original Marvel crossover event.

I hope Spidey kicks the X-Men's butt in AvX like he did in Secret Wars.

I know Mets is a big proponent of the Fusion saga. I'd always thought it was good, but on the fence as to how excellent. Upon rereading, I agree this is easily among the all-time greats. Right there with is is the Mets game issue which follows. "Maybe next year".

Jenkins and Buckingham have one of the best runs of Spider-Man ever.

Just read the Spectacular Spider-Man annual by Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca. Pete and MJ are in different parts of New York City, both facing arrest. MJ is being threatened by agents looking for her husband. Peter, wanting this latest living nightmare to end, is contemplating turning himself in. Both start reminiscing about moments of their lives together.

No action at all really, just a great example of how well the marriage worked when written well. *Great artwork too. Well worth a read.

The Complete Clone Saga Book 1. This whole story is better if you read it slowly over time.
Empty winds scrape on the soul never stop to realize/Animal whisperings intoxicate the night
Hypnotize the desperate slow motionlight/Wash away into the rain
    Blood, milk and sky....

When you read the basic idea of the clone saga and the characters it gave us it is really good, it's just a shame it was came at such a bad time at Marvel and was dragged out for so long.

Never read Peter Parker: Spider-Man, will give it a try now. Got huge gap in my Spidey knowledge from Pete's parents being fake to Straczynski's run, should see what I've missed really.

Amazing Spider-Man 680-683, and I have these comments to make:

Mayor Jameson is such a d***, where's Robbie when you need him to make Jonah see reason? I now believe he was the one needed to be mayor, not this blowhard Jameson. Seriously old man, do your job, don't focus all your resources on one thing and ignore everything else
Jameson: "Max, you're a menace cause you are an accomplice with Spider-Man". But as BatmanExaminer said: "Remember your wife? She was friends with Max"
Did Jameson forget he blamed himself for Marla's death? OMG, that guy needs Peter David to write him

Hey, look at this; "Ock's solution for Global Warming displays first he can make it worse by doing so, but he stops it and tells everyone he wants to make the world a better place after displaying horror and saying he will do this and kill everyone cause he can, showed it to the world, and they still believe he should be in control to save the world from global warming".
I will quote Ultimate Jameson here regarding people of this fictional world: "People are sheep"

Why the heck Horizon Labs DO NOT have their own primary power source to depend on most of the time? Something Mayor Jameson can't shut down on his leisure cause he wants to end the menace of HL. You'd think all those geniuses would come up with the plan and do it sooner

    Hell yeah!! Couldnīt agree more!
PAD writes the best JJJ ever!

Iīve never been a fan of psychotic Jonah! Mostly beacause it comes off as unrealistic.
The guy has been the EIC of the biggest newspaper in NY and now itīs its mayor, he canīt be portraied that way.
Nobody in those positions of power could be as insane and psychotic as he is written. Mostly beacuse people in those places are usually savy and charismatic, they command respect.
JJJ? Nobody(except Peter and Robbie) respects him, even Glory is basically there just to calm him down, really the mayor of NY canīt think straight?Just mouth off some insane stuff and looks deranged while spending the cityīs budget on spider-slayers(against an avenger?!)

Besides in this incarnation he doesnīt even like Peter! Which is a huge contrast to that time(of all the places!!) during the clone saga, when he secretly paid for Peterīs lawyer and actually celebrated when he was acquitted!! That there, and the issue where Spider-Man crashes through JJJīs window, are the best written stories of him(actually Scott Lobdell wrote him really well during the O:Zero Tolereance!)

Actually i really like that period!
JMD was his usual great in SSPM, and DeFalco was really consistent(loved his Electro story), and Norman was actually a threat and a great adversary.
Dezago/Wieringo were a great duo, their stories were funny and light hearted and Mackie was actually writing good stuff(before his letīs call it meltdown due to work overload/Byrne).
Every spider book brought something different to the table!
I think youīll enjoy it, itīs a huge contrast to the whole mess you just read(clone saga/baby may), with consistent stories, good writing, and self contained stories.

Then comes another dreadful/awful/and iīm running out of adjectives to describe how bad it is, story...the gathering of the five/final chapter, itīs just, horrid!! Iīll let you see for yourself.
But it ranks, imo, as the worst spider story ever, and it also kick stars the reboot....

Marvel Knights Spider-Man Vol 1 (issues 1-12). This was ok. It had some good material with Norman Osborn back in a crazy sort of phase, and some nice stuff with the Vulture, Mac Gargan, and a host of other villains. Good work! Though, I would put it just short of the greatest Spider-Man stories of all time.

Peter Parker Spider-Man Back in Black. An awesome volume, with the stories "To Have and to Hold" and "Book of Peter" anchoring the lot. Kind of a farewell to the marriage.

Spider-Man Family Ties. A collection of three issues of ASM Family, plus ASM: Fear Itself. Worth it for the ASM Family stuff, there are some nice little gems in there. I especially liked the story about Peter on the bus to a job interview when that gets blocked by the fallen arm of a dead killer robot.
    Perfect humility dispenses with modesty.

I just read Marvel Universe vs. The Punisher by Jonathan Maberry and Goran Parlov, and Spider-man plays a pretty neat role in it. I had no idea what this story was going to be like, but it was a fun zombie killing, Punisher-style story.

Spider-man and Mary Jane have a neat relationship in this book. He's an infected zombie and she's not infected, but they're still married and she's pregnant with his baby.

Agreed on all counts; that Jenkins run was easily the best run of all the Spider-titles at the time. And let me just add that it is beyond perplexing that no writer has yet brought Fusion back!!

I have always felt that, of the entire Spidey-verse, JJJ is easily the most inconsistently written character. And it's not even close.

Read the Mark Millar Spidey/Goblin Marvel Knights story, not too sure if I like it or not really, might have to give it another read.
