Default McCarthy Joins "Batwoman," Benes on "Detective Comics"

DC has announced Trevor McCarthy will join "Batwoman" as guest artist beginning with issue #9, while Ed Benes will fill in for "Detective Comics" following "Night of the Owls." UPDATE: Amy Reeder is leaving "Batwoman."

McCarthy's good, but I don't see his art skills as being beyond Reeder.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!

Man, i want McCarthy on Nightwing. Still ill take what i can get, and him doing 3 issues of Batwoman sounds pretty cool non the less. Interesting about Reeder though. I highly doubt it was because of some sort of response from her issue.

Interesting. I like McCarthy a lot, but it is disappointing if we're losing Reeder as a rotating artist on Batwoman.

Wow, that sucks. Reeder's work on this book was dynamite.

McCarthy is good, though. I wonder where we will see her go next. Somewhere at DC, or maybe at Marvel? I can think of a number of books I'd like to see her take over.

Too bad. McCarthy's good, but I really like Reeder.

Aw man. I really like Amy Reeder's work. I was hoping she'd still be in the rotation. :(

Trevor McCarthy is a great artist though. I love his work; his issues of Blackhawks and Nightwing were fantastic, and Gates of Gotham is simply incredible.

This makes me sad. As much as I like McCarthy's art, I was really hoping that Reeder would be on Batwoman for the long term.

Weird. I really wish they could've waited for this arc to finish before bringing in someone else. Should've been JH3 #1-5, Reeder #6-10, JH3 #11-15, AND THEN bring in a new artist. This just seems like a poorly coordinated mess. And for a book so dependent on the quality of the art... Shit.

Damn. When they said "McCarthy", I had a slight nerdgasm thinking it must be Brendan McCarthy. If anyone's going to give Williams III a run for his money on Batwoman, it would be Brendan McCarthy. Trevor McCarthy is a capable artist, but not really in the league of Williams III or Amy Reeder.

EDIT: Now that I see that Reeder is leaving Batwoman, I'm hoping that she'll end up working on the Amythyst book that's been rumored for the last year. She's a perfect fit for something like that.

Oh man when I read the header I was hoping it would be Brendan McCarthy, a book alternating between him and JHW would be absolutely insane. Trevor is good though, definitely not a step down.

Gail Simone seems to really like Amy Reeder's artwork, I wonder if she will try to poach her for BATGIRL? I can see it now, a completely female duo for a female comic:

    BATGIRL
    Writer: Gail Simone
    Artist: Amy Reeder

Considering the sheer nastiness and derogatory remarks per Ms. Reeder's artwork by many of the Batwoman readers on this very CBR board per the sixth issue thread, is it any wonder she probably said, "*** it, who needs this crap?"

Not that creators don't have some form of influence in that, but a lot of times those sorts of things are up to editorial, especially in work for hire situations as opposed to creator-owned stuff.

Considering what we've seen in BW up to this point...

I'm going to side with Reeder on this one.
