Sure does sound like an easy win for the X-Men especially if Thor's out of the picture.

The Avengers heavy hitters are Red Hulk and their science abilities? Plus a deflated Dr.Strange? There is no reason the X-Men should not dominate here.

Where the X-Men are undeniably souped up with raw and/or aggressive power.... the Avengers have the resources and a slew of brilliant minds at their disposal.

I say that with the utmost respect and admiration FOR the X-Men, too.
But Tony Stark, Dr.Strange, Black Panther---those are some IMPRESSIVE minds and accomplished men, no matter how you slice it. You don't like them? You're not a fan? Well...they're still hugely impressive, regardless.

And again, nobody could be rooting harder or louder for the X-Men, but I wouldn't count the Avengers out of this.
The stakes are really, REALLY, high for both teams.

Well, without the secret avengers team including Thor, the rest of the avengers attacking Utopia should not be able to defeat the x-men. But seeing that somehow the avengers leave utopia with the x-kids and even part of the x-club, I am thinking that the avengers are going to use mutant power dampening tech to leave the x-men powerless. But because colussonuat, magik and danger don't need mutant powers, they are going to be the ones that "safe"the x-men and leave utopia. Hence the fact that in later issues of uncanny and avx the fight is being taken all over the world.

I haven't really been keeping up with anything A or X except for Uncanny X-Force lately. That being said, couldn't this whole conflict be resolved rather quickly with the Scarlet Witch simply saying "More Mutants"? I tried to read some spoilers about Children's Crusade...she started, but was stopped and didn't resume reversing her earlier gene genocide?

Unless the objective is to wipe the X-Men out for some reason, they're going to be fighting to incapacitate rather than kill or maim.
Unless? I'm fairly sure that's a given. Steve wouldn't give that order and the Avengers for the most part wouldn't follow it.

Yup. She managed to repower exactly one mutant because Scott Summers was so dead set on imprisoning her rather than letting her fix mutantkind THEN take her into custody.

She was then nerfed and rendered incapable of fixing her mess.

Interesting! The Witch's power is quite intimidating, but so is the power of another long time Avenger, Thor. Will we get a chance to see how devastating Thor is in action against the X-Men? Or will he be using all his power to confront something equally intimidating, the Phoenix Force? If so, what kind of battle will that be?

Brevoort: As we've already shown in the preview of "AvX" #1 we've been running, Thor's going to be at the forefront of the Avengers away team tasked with preventing the Phoenix from ever reaching the Earth -- so he's going to be away from the team vs. team fighting at least at the outset. When facing something akin to the Phoenix Force, Thor is one of the very few Avengers capable of operating very comfortably on that level. But assuming he gets back to Earth and enters the combat with the X-Men, he'll be a pretty unstoppable force. I wouldn't bet on the Juggerlossus against him, for instance.
He's not gonna stop the Phoenix, so it would be more useful to unleash him on the X-Men and speed up victory there. Also more entertaining, because they always remove him from these hero vs. hero fights.

Against the Phoenix we all know what will happen. He'll put up a brave effort but ultimately lose.
