Default Flash Gordon via Dynamite Entertainment (The General Thread)

So, who's read any of the Flash Gordon stuff from Dynamite? This is one of those titles that I wrote off as more pulp crap from Dynamite and I was only interested in reading their Kirby: Genesis titles so hardly anything else interested me, that is until I remembered how much I loved Green Hornet via DE and how good they were doing on that book so I decided to give issue #1 a read through. With that said, I really enjoyed issue #1 and I've since bought the 2nd issue and enjoyed that equally as much, especially the fun story and the very solid art which made for 2 incredibly quick and enjoyable reads (read them twice each). Man, aside from the Kirby books I find myself reading Green Hornet, Vampirella, Warlord of Mars, Bionic Man, Lord of the Jungle, and now Flash Gordon from Dynamite, if this keeps up I may just abandon the DCnU stuff I'm reading and focus on Dynamite titles only, especially with The Shadow and The Spider on their way.

I'm also liking FG Zeitgeist, the way the story is deeply rooted in Alex Raymond's original while doing some tweaks to make it more engrossing is the main reason why I'm on board. As with other Dynamite comics, the artwork has its own flavor that separates it from the styles that dominate the charts while staying clear for the most part in terms of storytelling and that's a good thing in my book.

Flash Gordon was my very first exposure to SciFi back in the early 80s thru the cartoon and I'm glad to be able to enjoy it again all these years later.

It's funny, like with many Dynamite characters I read today (GH, Vampirella, Flash Gordon, Bionic Man, WoM and more) I've never had ANY exposure to them leading up to reading them in comic book form through Dynamite Entertainment, so the version I'm getting from DE is the version I hold as the gold standard. I've had so many people try to get me to go back and read this or check out that, but I have ZERO interest in doing so and I'm loving what Dynamite is doing with these characters and have no plans on ever checking out earlier works or serials based on these characters.

I LOVE Flash Gordon: Zeitgeist so far, it's got quite a nice little plot going for it and I'm digging the artwork, it's certainly different than the standard Marvel/DC stuff and I think that's a good thing too. DE really hit a homerun with this series and I look forward to checking it out on store shelves for some time to come, thanks Dynamite!

I wonder what the heck is going on with Dynamite's printing errors, it has been twice now that I've experienced issues with the dialogue balloons in some pages on their comics, just now I finished reading Flash Gordon #4 and it happened again: pages 20 and 21 had repeated dialogue balloons, and you can tell that the dialogue from page 21 was completely lost.

I have no idea what kind of quality control they have, but if this keeps going my money will go somewhere else.

Love Flash Gordon Zeitgeist, one of my favorite books. find I am buying more and more Dynamite titles each month. Lone Ranger is a true adaptation too. Kato was excellent if you enjoy the current Green Hornet run.

I first got into Flash Gordon from the Jim Keefe comic strips, but Dynamite is doing a really good job with this series so far.

I am honestly loving this series but I kind of wish they would just kill Hitler and focus on Ming and Ming's lackey being the core villains of this series, I kind of like when comics don't drag in real life people and keep to using "fantasy" characters that don't truly exist. I don't know.....I guess it just add's a bit of imagination to the overall story rather than having to rely on something or someone who may be a real figure, either which way I think Hitler's on his way out soon thanks to the trio scoping him out in issue #4.

When is the next issue out? Just read Rise of Ming no1 and it was okay, not nearly as good as Zietguist though, which is amazing.

What an awesome issue and I truly applaud Dynamite for reprinting the page from the last issue that didn't have the proper dialogue, what a great way to support your readers! As for this issue, it was truly action personified with some amazing battle scenes and some awesome interactions between characters. I loved that Flash Gordon got his hands dirty and that Princess Aura is getting into the thick of things, she's an awesome character and maybe one of my current females appearing in a Dynamite comic, awesome job to the creative team for getting her involved! I can't wait to get issue #6 in my hands, it took a while for issue #5 to come out so I'm hoping that #6 comes on time as I really want to see where this is all going.

Yeah, she Shark-Men were pretty intense and they did have a pretty awesome design to them, as do most of the characters in this book including the awesome outfit of Flash Gordon himself. It's funny, there are so many great characters in this book you almost half forget that the star of this book is Flash Gordon, lol, there are just so many great characters to follow in this title. One of my favorites would have to be Thun of the Lion-Men, he has so much potential and I really wouldn't mind a solo series or mini-series of his, but I doubt we'll ever see anything like that.

Put me on the bandwagon for Dynamite's Flash Gordon as well. Not only is ZEITGEIST a great comic, but I'm also enjoying its companion book, MERCILESS. The lateness of the titles is the only thing that's bumming me out.
