I can't help but feel there's a masochistic tendency in Millar. He already has a legion of fanboys who like to attack him at the slightest mention of his name, and here he goes and mentions Watchmen in the same breath as one of his own creations. Yes, he was really talking about Dave, but it won't save him from a barrage of brick-bats.
"Being in a minority, even a minority of one, does not make you mad... Sanity is not statistical."
George Orwell, "1984"
I think he realizes the value of just being mentioned. I doubt he means for everything he says to be taken seriously and let's be honest he's great at promotion. Gibbon's art is timeless imo so I'm looking forward to this one as much as Hitch's new book.

I still wonder if people at Marvel would be mad at Millar for using so many of their top artists like Yu and McNiven. I read through a copy of Superior the other day and got to say the art looks even better than his recent Marvel stuff. Maybe it's just my imagination or maybe they just love what they do that much more as an indie book.
Yeah, I guess so. However. There are a couple big mainstream artists here. Leniel Yu did Secret Invasion and Ultimate Avengers. Steve McNiven did Civil War. I find it strange they would let these two big artists do Millar's creator-owned work which probably doesn't bring in nearly as much in sales or money.
