    I'd go with Captain Cold

I could see a desire for a Wonder Woman movie, however...

Didn't you say a JLA movie hint will be in MOS? I hope so.

Green Lantern kinda killed my interest in watching a JLA movie. Really though, Warner brothers can't win this one. If they do JLA it'll look like they're ripping off marvel's avengers strategy, which in turn will make their product seem second rate. There's only so many superhero franchises you can have floating around.

Superman can easily be assumed to realistic because the major dampener on his effectiveness is time. He can defeat physically any foe eventually, but it all takes time. He only has so many hours a day, and he is one man. Fighting crime and defending Metropolis means he can't utopia-ise the world, which I think is a main possible critique of him. Plus he doesn't randomly teleport and have a ridiculously heavy hammer like Thor. So much more realistic.

Realism in superhero movies merely needs to be sufficient to keep suspension of disbelief.

Actually, I think realism with super-heroes requires they follow the rules they set up in the film. Part of what failed with Superman Returns for me is he barely can stand on the kryptonite island allowing Lex to beat the snot of him then lifts the same island off into space. To me, one scene violated the other. I get I was supposed to be impressed he could 'fight' off the affects and the scene was mind over matter or something but it still struck me as wrong. Just like the original Superman has him going back in time to save Lois but unless I missed something doesn't that mean Jimmy died? So I think there's more than suspension of disbelief because a man flying never bothered me.

Really? Because my disbelief hit a lot sooner... Round about the time that Lex decided he would raise an island made of toxic radioactive rock from the ocean, which would sink much of the rest of the world. What with the rest of the world being where his riches are stored. Also it became even more pointless when i realised that the island was formed out of crystal & salt water, meaning that nothing can grow there, nor would there be any fresh water to drink... An then to protect this new land with an army composed of 2 thugs & only one of them had a glok.

This isn't a job for Superman, this is a job for the Navy Seals... Or a troop of boy scouts.

Also the word you are all looking for is not "realism." The word you are looking for is verisimilitude.

    Verisimilitude
    1. The quality of appearing to be true or real.
    2. Something that has the appearance of being true or real.

It's a rumor. Granted, I've heard it from sources I trust. But even if it is in the final cut of MOS, we most likely won't see it until the movie is released next year.

I went to see the Avengers with some friends that don't read comics. We all like the movie and the first thing they asked once we left was "Isn't there another team? The Justice League? Why don't they do a movie with those?"
For people who don't read comics, the DC vs Marvel thing doesn't exist (in fact, they also asked "Why isn't the guy with the green ring in the Avengers? He was kinda of cool" ). They just want to see good, fun movies.

Warner should create DC Studios as part of DC Entertainment and let them have as much input on the movies as Marvel Studios. Then they need to start hiring more tallented people. Enough with Berlanti and Guggenheim. Spend some money, pay good creators to be involved.

Internal consistency a major part of keeping suspension of disbelief.

I was using the first thing that popped into my head about the film. Other than the saving of the plane Lois was on at the beginning and the Smallville, the film really fell apart for me. Part of that being that it just didn't make sense. The other part it being a bore. I say I like it, which I do for the scenes I mentioned, but I would guess almost everyone that left the theater thought maybe they shouldn't have bothered.

Yes. Though not always necessary if you consider that its consistent that no one ever puts two and two together to figure out Clark Kent is Superman even though Superman returns then Clark makes his return. Yet no one ever questions when I think the audience probably just believes the characters to be dense. I mean, they consider his height and build but the fact one shows up then the next? Just another case of you can't discount the changes time makes to an audience who have already seen this before. I think that's why the comics have done away with even having this questioned. It just makes the characters look stupid.

No one ever figures out Superman's identity, except if it is an important plot point, in any medium. External consistency and grandfather clause (if its been happening since your grandparents were your age, then its all good no matter how stupid. More recent works using the same thing are open to criticism of unrealism).

About the Clark Kent/Superman glasses off/glasses on, it really as a little more to it. Christopher Reeve actually looked different as Clark and as Superman. Totally different posture and with a good performance you could actually believe why people didn't saw they were the same:

Brandon Routh, on the other hand, didn't faired so well:

Still, in the Christopher Reeve, in the same way that Javier Bardem and Dean Jeffrey Morgan look a lot alike and you don't say they are the same person:

The fact that Clark is also a public figure helps.

Yeah that works for randoms on the street who in passing know both, but is that really supposed to fool Lois of all people? And Jimmy? Come on.
