Eh, remember how DC/WB was on top of the world in '08 when the Dark Knight came out? Well, that was just a few short years ago. If WB can't make "Avengers" numbers with either the Dark Knight Rises or Man of Steel, then they simply don't deserve to be at that level. There is no point in hating Marvel and/or the Avengers because they made a great movie. It's time for "our camp" to step the hell up.

Gotta say, Marvel and DC were even with Iron Man and The Dark Knight, both films were excellent examples of comic book movies.
Sure, TDK made a lot more, the hype was huge for the movie, with the mystery of Ledger, and of course, the quality of the film.

    Green Lantern IS better.

If you had never seen a movie or television before in your entire life. Ever. You would wonder how the little men are on the screen and clap your hands like a kid.
And then the next movie you see is Avengers and then you realize that Green Lantern was crap.

I dont care if the Avengers made a lot of money, in fact, it seems only terrible movies can make money. The Avengers is in the company with Avatar and Titanic, which are awful, and generally the mob always has bad taste.

Which is sort of an admission you let others dictate how you're going to feel about something.

I agree, mostly. When I saw Iron Man, I absolutely loved it and it became my fav comic movie (at the time). But as a Batman fan, I was thinking there was probably no way that TDK could top it. Then TDK came out, and it blew me away. I saw the movie 4 times in the theater (1 in IMAX). 2008 was definitely a great year for fans of comic book movies, but if we're talking box office, then DV/WB definitely came out on top, and as I said, if they can't do it again, then they don't deserve to.

Some mobs have bad taste (Fans of Bay's Transformers, for example, IMO), but in the case of the Avengers, mass audiences loved it, because it turned out to be a great super-hero flick. Them's the breaks.

It's too bad WB couldn't have made a better GL movie, but all they can do is move forward and make better films.

you one of these faux intellectuals that thinks stuff like Griff the Invisible and Chronicle should be making millions? do you need validation that hard?

my grandparents went to go see Avengers and loved it...and they are 80 yr old Puerto Ricans who have never read comic books

my Gramgram loves her some Thor and Captain America now

If only there was a scene in Green Lantern where a giant shark eats an airliner at 30,000 feet.
That would almost save the movie for me

heh, it seems like all women, of any age, are lovin' Thor and Cap these days. There is even a fan-girl following for Loki, from what I've seen.
