Honestly, while I didn't think Iron Man 2 was as good as Iron Man was, I didn't think it was "awful", either. Awful, to me, was a movie like Green Lantern.

So I saw the Avegers last night and watched the other Marvel movies beforehand and its no way in hell DC can start with a JLA movie and go from there. ne of the reasons why Avengers worked and had so much hype was the the previous films and how it all tied together. That and the movie has to be fun something none of the DC movies have really been. They should start off with MOS being the Iron Man of the series and go from there. Thing that worked in the marvel Movies and to a lesser extent smallville was the world being pretty close to ours at the beginning and toward the end of the first film you see that things are changing,

To me, Iron Man 2 was at best one step better than GL. In fact, the only Marvel movies I can say I really enjoyed were Iron Man and now Avengers.

Eh Iron Man 2 works better when you watch all the movies in tandem. It may have been a set up film but it reminds of a comic book arc that way.

Wouldn't call the nolan films holy grails but I like them.

I rated IM2 somewhere around a 7-7.5 on a 10 point scale. Not bad but not great.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!

I liked Iron Man 2, actually, and wouldn't dream of comparing to something as pedestrian as Green Lantern.

I feel the same way. While I didn't enjoy Iron Man 2 as much as I enjoyed Iron Man, I thought it was light years ahead of Green Lantern. I got bored with Green Lantern pretty early on in the film -- which I wasn't expecting.

I enjoyed "Iron Man 2" quite a bit. My only complaint was that the final fight should've been longer. It was lacking compared to the Iron Monger fight in the first film.

That was part of it. Didn't like Rodney getting re-cast, either.

I think everything rests with Man of Steel -- If DC/WB can't create an awesome Superman movie, then there really is no chance competing with Marvel's Avengers. Make it good, make it epic, and grow from there.
DC: Batman Inc - Batman & Robin - Batman - Justice League - Justice League of America - A̶c̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶C̶o̶m̶i̶c̶s̶

I don't know how good a jumping off point that will be. It's still Nolan, and Nolan has said he thinks the DC characters work better independently of one another, where they don't exist in a shared universe.

pretty much...if they can't make Superman work, I doubt the PTB are going to go any further
