actually when they first showed the first trailer they said you can grab edges and pull yourself back up, so its confirmed its possible :D
which is why I'm wondering if you can do anything else from the ledges, hell even letting go of the ledge so that you still fall but take 75% less damage

I don't mine Ayane's costume, but I really don't like the Ryu Hayabusa's redesign that's in this game and Ninja Gaiden 3, and I really hate how they changed the look of his headpiece.

its the same as DOA 2, 3, 4, and Dimensions isn't it? I didn't see much, if any difference between the costumes.
I do agree on NG 3 that whole curse of the Dragon Sword bs is kinda lame but I don't think its that much of a drastic change as say Ayane who went from this http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__..._Full_Body.png to some boring all black costume

I hope not Akira is more than enough for guest characters, if they want more guest characters I think I'd rather see Momiji or Rachel, and even then I rather not see them

however purely for shits and giggles I would love to see Tifa Lockhart or Mai Shiranui just because I think they "fit" the characters from the series
