Seems somewhat interesting.
My fear here is that we're going to follow the "Green Lantern" model with Geoff Johns here. So far, his MO is that he starts out with a relatively sparse, uninspired arc that claims to be character centric but really just sets up a status quo. Poor villains, sparse characterization. He tells a few one off issues, ranging for decent to poor. Then he starts to develop his mythology and starts going in the direction he wants to go, starts the big overarching story he's telling. Around about now, then, is when he'd start building to his Aquaman "Sinestro Corps War".
Now I loved Sinestro Corps War. A lot of new, interesting characters and concepts, a logical expansion of the Green Lantern mythos, a lot of great world building (specifically Coast City) and some pretty decent character building. It'd be nice to think that Aquaman was going to get that, don't get me wrong.
But afterwards his ENTIRE run was predicated upon the basics ideas introduced that arc -- the emotional spectrum.
Can we expect something similar here, with the rise and fall of Atlantis linked to these weapons of Poseidon? Can we expect all future stories to spin out of this one idea, which I'm sure will be interesting and cool enough in its own right, but almost certainly won't be strong enough to act as the foundation of a 40+ run?
I guess only time will tell!

Still no idea what the heck the other league is about. Hope its good but I'd rather Johns continue to develop DCNU Aquaman.

"No weapon formed against them could prosper."
It's about "The Other League" - a group of heroes Aquaman was with before he became Aquaman. They all have some sort of weapon(like Aquaman's trident) which are being hunted by an unknown assailant. There are lots of interviews with Johns covering this and the solicitations for Issues 7-9 give hints on what's to come.
This is Johns developing Aquaman, you're getting a "Secret Origin" of his past before he was Aquaman and the importance of his weapon.
