Okay. Let me confess. I am not a video game player or afficionado. I am familiar with the Assasins Creed franchise through ads and looking at the artwork. And I think that it's beautiful. But I had a look at the trailer the other day and was very impressed with the visuals. Are most 'fantasy' games like this or is this the next stage?

depends. some are full of awesome like this, others have more of an "arcade" feel. A game like Skyrim has impressive visuals and is hands down epic fantasy, while on the flipside, Wow, still a highly popular fantasy game, is a bit more "cartoony."

Oh and one more thing....I really couldn't help but be impressed with With Connors movement. It was like watching a highly trained very cool Olympic athlete. It was breathtaking and chilling. Is Batman like that in any of his games?

yes and no...the movement is like that across the series of AC games (the first one was released in 2005, I believe)...Batman is a bit more clunky but still has solid movement in his games

I am just now playing the first game and was wondering something. From what I have gleaned on the other games, does this series of games play like FF, in which the title and the style of gaming the commonalities but with different characters? Seeing as they take place in different time lines, I was just wondering if this is the case or if they are intricately intertwined?

I am enjoying the first one, but I haven't picked it up again since the first few hours I played about a week ago. I think about it, but I don't. The story intrigues me, but the gameplay, at first is kickass, but it quickly becomes tedious. The "blend" concept reminds me of Hulk Ultimate Destruction, but at least there you had the power to eventually beat your enemies. Here it seems to harsh of a punishment to be detected because your battle prose isn't as good as your assassination techniques.

Unlike FF, it's all one story, Desmond's story.

While the saga may jump about time periods, it's always Desmond in the machine learning about the Assassins of days gone by, and the real story is set in the present.

Desmond's story gives the context for the series, but I'd argue the Assassins are the main characters of each game. But agreed, it's all one story. In the first game you play Altair, then in following three you play Ezio (and occasionaly Altair ;) )

As for the gameplay, the quality increases and is polished with each game of the series.

I agree with that. They tweek things with each new game looking at what people didn't like or just didn't work and improving it in the next one. They have done that with each game in the series and this one look as much improved as 2 was over 1. Can't wait.

I have played more and seem to be enjoying it more and more. Learning new things (like counter attack) and polishing my skills at interrogating, pickpockets, and remaining unseen have made the game more enjoyable. I like that there are a lot of things to do besides what's needed to advance the game. That way if I am stuck on defeating an enemy to move the game forward I can try out other things, find more view points, save citizens, etc ... they all help to increase your skills. I am excited to get to play the second one once I get done with this one.
