supple, even. sex appeal's a great way to get rachel back in the spotlight. just no more dating shiar aliens or making out with kung fu masters please.

i'm afraid i'm not getting enough ray time either. at least she's getting more page time than dazzler but c'mon...cable, nate, and every other summers or grey gets great spotlights. ray's always kinda...forgotten. i want remener to write her. although knowing marvel, the first major storyline she gets will probably end up with her getting killed off. just like that one time they finally included tara into the buffy intro only for us to discover that they off her at the end of the same episode.

I actually liked her Red Lotus pairing. Was kinda hot.

I think because she isn't well liked in editorial, she's not going to be given the same opportunities other Summers-Grey members have gotten.

However, I think it's actually great they are finally including her in this event. So we should be grateful for that at least. Normally they shift her to space / the future / another dimension during an X-event so it "doesn't confuse the reader" blah blah

I haven't read Wolverine Omega yet so I could be mistaken, but if R'Chel was acting rash and all with QQ + Wolverine's short fuse, it could be even more fun imo. She's just so rational since her return etc. I won't shut up about this ever.

The same question could be asked of Jean. She is the prime avatar of the Phoenix, a White Phoenix of the Crown, and the original (before retcons) and most famous Phoenix.

The last time we saw her she had merged fully with the Phoenix and was waiting to be reborn.

And yet it looks like this massive Phoenix storyline isn't going to include her.

I don't understand how involving Captain America and Iron Man or tying Iron Fist into the Phoenix is new reader friendly.

It's simple. If you're a new reader, you have no idea how little sense it would make for the Phoenix to chase humans when it can easily resurrect its prime host or choose from a number of former psychic hosts.

The series isn't being written for anyone that has read X-Men before... "new reader friendly."

Sorry Brevoort, Alonso and Lowe, but Jean Grey is a classic character. She'll outlive you regardless. :)

I don't see how adding that Rachel once wielded it makes it any complicated. Are the new readers at preschool level?

Well it's aimed at Avenger readers.

It does kind of complicate the Avengers side

    Avengers: The Phoenix only destroys.
Rachel: Uh, no. It's a primary force of resurrection in the universe. You might as well try and stop Death. And I was once saved the entire Omniverse with the Phoenix. Any of you ever done that?

    Avengers: It's a parasite.
Rachel: No, I've willed it dormant when needed and told it leave me alone once.

    Avengers: It killed the D'Bari
Rachel: Yes but was driven mad by Emma over there and Mastermind. Who here hasn't been brainwashed or gone insane?

Avengers: Well we are still going to destroy it!
Rachel: Give me strength. Galactus tries to destroy it and resulted in stars dying. Do you want that?

Rachel: Look when it arrives to Earth, I'll have a chat with it. See what it wants? Then let you know.

    Avengers: No kill the bird.

Rachel and anything related to the Phoenix after the DPS seems to complicate their view on it based on what has been presented.

But yeah, it shouldn't be hard to get "new readers" to understand that it has been housed by other mutants, like Rachel, in its existence in the MU.

But this event isn't about X-Readers.

So Rachel should say, "I housed the Phoenix Force for a while. Sure, it just ATE AN ENTIRE PLANET, but I don't think we need to worry. I could control it again, even though it abandoned me in outer space during the middle of an intergalactic battle." Is that about right?

The Phoenix saved the entire universe. "New Readers" seem very selective with "their facts". The DBari was like 3 small panels in the DPS.

Why is the force now suddenly destroying everything though? Is it even the same one? I guess we'll have to wait and see?

Assuming AvX isn't really destroying/ignoring past stories, I actually don't think it's doing it suddenly. Morrison canon says the Phoenix kills the obsolete. That planet in Point One may have been on a Phoenix work-order.
