Why isn't Rachel Grey a major supporting character in Avengers vs X-men ?

I mena I know this event is about Cyclops, Hope, Scarlet Witch, Captain America and the Avengers (both new and regular, and Wolverine, but why isn't some of the whole Phoenix force spotlight shining on the one X-men who hold the Phoenix force power the longest, next the Jean Grey ?

Why isn't someone like Rachel Grey playing a role in this event or at least trying to find out why the Phoenix Force chose Hope and not her ?

I didn't include to other holders as they are still new in my eyes and they didn't have the long term history that Rachel Grey has. So unless this event has her killed off/erase from the minds of the X-men, then someone please tell me why isn't she playing a supporting role in this since she knows how to use the powers of the Phoenix force ?

I mean don't tell me that Marvel has forgotten that she was the Phoenix force holder that faced off against Galactus, a feat in itself.

I doubt she is/will be because that would be acknowledging continuity, and we all know per Joey Q that continuity is "squicky".

Rachel is the one True Phoenix by the Force's own declaration way back in Excalibur Vol 1.

She'll be on the sidelines so to speak at the school according to Tom Brevoort. I suspect she'll get involved with the Shi'ar Death Commandos who are probably sent to the school to stop the Phoenix as they believe it's after Rachel.

It is slightly funny that with all the Avengers talk of the Phoenix being a destructive force, Captain Britain is right there! He knows that Rachel saved the Omni-verse.

Yeah I don't get how they just ignore continuity....why even make up stories, if you're just gonna ignore them anyway

I actually thought Rachel killed all the commandos but I presume they're all clones or whatever. I'm kinda sick of them at this point (she fought them in Kingbreaker and War of Kings) so I hope Aaron can do something new with them.

I'm expecting a twist with the SDC arc in WAX. Like it turns out they're really after QQ, and Rachel's gotta save him.

Well yeah, she did kill most of them. But think they are like the "Marauders" of the Shi'ar. So they are mysteriously going to keep coming back. How they are still allowed to operate under Gladiator's rule is beyond me.

To answer OP, she will play a role. It will be minor and limited to just the WatX and Legacy issues. They may acknowledge her prior stint as the avatar (Avengers like CB know her as THE avatar), but in the grand scheme of things it sounds like they are trying to redefine the PF again and are quietly sweeping its history under the mat for this event. So she'll appear, but not as much as you might expect if this were an X only event (even then I would wonder).

Maybe King w/e and all that don't count in canon anymore. It was a long time ago. Or we'll see a new team.
