I wasn't too familiar to the original DC Captain Marvel, so the changes to Shazam probably won't mean that much to me to begin with. That being said, I like the new look (I've always prefered hoods to capes anyway) and I'm very interested to see these Gary Frank illustrated adventures. Bundling them with Justice League just makes sense if DC truly wants Shazam to succeed in this day and age where new and/or obscure characters have a hard time hanging with the stalwarts of the industry. Looking forward to Justice League 7 with eager anticipation.

The new look is ridiculous. They seem intent on turning every character into a horror comic character of some sort. They certainly don't seem to understand the charm and appeal of their own characters.
um who besides animal man wasnent already a horrorish character, any character that deals with magic such as shazam will have some horrorific encounters in his travels
GOD DAMMIT
WILL YOU PLEASE JUST GIVE US THE FULL HIGH DEF IMAGE ALREADY OMG i hate tiny teasers u can barely make out![]()
Captain Marvel has been one of my favorite characters and my knee-jerk reaction is hate all these changes, but I've decided to tone it down and just take a wait and see approach. I need to see more pictures before I comment on the re-design, and although the new direction doesnt sound too bad, if it's got a similar feel as the other DCnu titles, then I'm kinda worried since I've dropped all DC titles since Flashpoint [after an initial trial run with some of them].
Lol Is the Big Red Cheese supposed to be bad ass now? Is he gonna rip a hooker in half?

^ Entirely agreed. Captain Marvel has always been one of my favorites, and this hooded imposter bears about as much resemblance to the character I know and love as Mar-Vell or that "Split-Zam" guy (look it up). I won't buy the issues of Justice League with this character in them, nor will I purchase anything else DC publishes with this imposter.
I'm getting a Harry Potter type vibe with all of this, with so much emphasis on the magical side of the character. If Harry Potter were a big guy who punches things, that is.

Also, after seeing the newest Young Justice episode this weekend featuring kid-Billy Batson+Captain Marvel, this new direction just makes me cringe a little bit, b/c the classic take is still a viable concept if done right.
The question I have is:
What will happen when someone asks Shazam his name? "Hi, you can call me Shazam-**KA-BOOOMM!** ... oops."
Still excited for this. Johns & Frank have contributed to several of my favorite stories over the past few years so I still have high hopes for Captain...er...SHAZAM!!
I'm not a fan of the hood... hopefully he won't have it on at all times.

You know what, I really miss the old DCU. I really, really miss the old Cap and Marvel Family, which if the little snapshots at the end of Infinite Crisis are any indication still may exist on Earth 5. But, let's face it, Warner Bros. has decided that DC needs be a cash generator for them, they are the only real significant resource for license-able properties they have, so they are going to make sure that DC is always 'new and exciting'. There may be a ton of us complaining about this reboot, but it sold more books than DC has sold in long time, which translates into a success for all involved. If we had not bought it, it would not be staying around, but we bought it, so now, here it is. Wait until they force Robinson to add Gail Simone's Welcome to Tranquility characters into his Earth 2 book, unless they already have. Me, I didn't buy the Wildstorm books when they were filled with Wildstorm characters, not going to buy them now using DC characters.
