Is there a way to CP farm? I haven't tried for months, ever since they took them out as dropped items.

Today, I make no demands... no threats! But, one day, I shall voice demands -- and all shall obey them!

Does anyone else notice the decreased odds on the roulette rolls for CPs whenever they announce an impending special ops?

The reason I tend to spam Epic missions is to simultaneously maximize experience, the chance to get epic weapons, and chance to nab CP.
Really looking forward to the next Spec Ops... not only for the mystery of the second character and because Havok will probably be pretty cool, but also because they announced new enemies as well. Will they be a new thug class or new bosses?Excited either way. Especially with the extended amount of time between this and Valkyrie's, I am optimistic that it will be a bit more like Ghost Rider's in terms of creativity and fun.
I have a feeling that the Vision/Ultron spec ops they teased us with at the con will probably coincide with the Ultron crossover event and that it will also be pretty unique/interesting, since they have probably been working on it for quite a while.
I didn't hate Val's spec ops, it just felt overly recycled/flat with the exception of her character, which has been a lot of fun. The illusory Lokis getting bored and leaving made it seem like his heart really wasn't in it, either.
If they continue to only release new heroes through spec ops and PvP, I think I will enjoy spec ops much more as you can be more certain that the goal is attainable... provided that you have a solid hero collection or some resources to complete the peskier tasks. I have heard too many heartbreak stories with PvP to risk going all out to try to snag a "free" character that way. And farming 135 CPs is much more tedious than the spec ops process.

Maybe a generalist thug/boss?
I'm not sure if we've had either of those before.
Dormammu is a generalist who can then switch classes... Viper is as well in Mission 1.1.
Really low-level thug enemies are generalists as well, and some Mindless Ones actually stay generalist (which mission is that?).
Trying to think of any others that I've seen...
