Not necessary. Try reading everything in order you'll go broke and crazy, there's just too much stuff and it's very up and down in quality. Most of the best stuff is reprinted and the best way to look at comics is as a series of self contained story arcs that just happen to relate loosely to one another in forming an overall history of a character

Long Halloween is displayed next because it was the second most voted for book in a Beginner Trades poll I ran a while ago. But it's ALSO a book that chronically follows Year One, being set in the very early days after Batman's appearance in Gotham, so it's an excellent book to read next.

gotcha. so are the filler issues stories that finish within the one issue, similar to a "monster of the week" type tv show?

Usually, though these days a lot of 6 issue arcs can be viewed as filler.
I would like to say for the record that this is the FIRST TIME I've withheld dong when someone was so desperately asking for some.

Thanks! Been trying to pick his stuff up for a while, but didn't know where to start with ubiquity of his character.

Hi, been collecting batman comics only recently since the new 52. Now DC are publishing a new title earth 2, it looks like it will also feature batman.

Is it worthwhile reading this? And what is a good resource to check on the history of earth 2 (and 3,4,...)

While I enjoyed the first issue a lot, you need to know that this is a different Batman, and he died at the end of the first issue. So, if you're only interested because of Batman, you may want to pass it up.

You don't need any; this is a brand new Earth 2 and the issue is new reader friendly.

Issue #1 also introduces Bruce's daughter Helena, who is the Batgirl on Earth Two. In the first issue she, along with the Earth Two Supergirl, are transported to the main DC earth where they headline the new Worlds' Finest title as Huntress and Power Girl.

Me again. In relation to the Deluxe Editions that DC puts out, apart from size, are they different from the later TPB editions, specifically in terms of the sketchbook type features they have at the back? Might just go down the paperback route, seeing as it's so much cheaper.

    Hi
Is there a list of Grant Morrisons run on the Batman titles in trade form and are there any that are not worth picking up ? Any advice would be gratefully accepted.

interesting.. never touched a comic before but if I'm gonna start, it'll have to be with Batman. I think I should just start with the Batman #1 in the New 52. Is this the best idea?

I'm sure The Outsider have their fans..somewhere, but not many people I've seen here would absolutely urge you to read it. Depends how interested you are I guess.

Any one of the trades listed in the first post and you'll be fine. Read some reviews, have a look through in the shop find one or two you're most interested in and go from there.

Batman #1 (or the trade Court of Owls, same thing) is good because it gets you right up to speed with the current series and you can begin reading monthly, that said the other books are long respected classics and arguably much better stories, Court of Owls is barely a year old.

To get into the frame of The New 52 Batman(reading some of the classics on OP already), I think I'll start reading Batman 1 because that is where the current story begins, Batman and Robin due to good reviews, Red Hood (also good reviews), and Batman Incorporated when it comes out
