Cap and Cyclops being a match is laughable to me. Cap could kill him within minutes if he really wanted to. He's superior in ever way, except Cyclops has his blasts, but that's not much different than cap vs someone with a big gun.

With A huge gun that shoots where you look and is powerful enough to take you out even when you miss, handled by a man with nearly as much combat experience as Cap

Only partly, it is it also about a bunch of government thugs thinking that attacking a teenage girl is OK based on faulty information, with the likely consequence of dooming her race

Because he is either a bigot or an idiot, or the writer needs to turn him into one or the other to make the plot work

Yep, I'm calling the "What if this were Danielle, Luke? What would YOU do?" line now. It's all just a matter of who says it to Cage. Thoughts?

So taking the chance that the PF can be controlled is not saner than letting it act with no control at all? That is simply idiotic. The PF is less dangerous with an Avatar, If Cap and Iron man had a clue they would know that.

The Avengers should just call in the Shiar for back up. I'm sure they'd be thrilled with Scott's "plan".
My Heroes For Hire: Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Misty Knight, Colleen Wing, The Falcon, Ant-Man (Scott Lang). White Tiger IV and Powerman would be interns.

"Less dangerous." Oh well then...story checks out.

Guess they should just let the cult leader and messiah do whatever they want on the gamble that Phoenix isn't going to wipe out worlds... again.

If the Phoenix wants to wipe out the world, there's nothing the Avengers can do.
And it can certainly do it without an avatar. Apealing to the avatar's humanity and hope it can control the PF, its the only viable plan. That's Cyclops plan.
The Avengers, on the other hand, are planing to do what exactly? Tell the cosmic force of destruction to go away?

Oh, and couldn't they find a Wolverine image that was a bit less horrible? He looks like an anorethic yellow rat in there.

Cap is not superior in every way, Cyke has better thinking skills and that big optic blast thing.

Cyclops doesn't know that Hope is the avatar. He's just assuming. He doesn't have a plan at all.

Actually, Hope is either housing an entire Phoenix Force or a fragment of it already. They've known this since Second Coming and Emma's visions that have come true twice now. In fact I wouldn't put it past them if they've been planning for this since Dark Reign cause that was when Emma had the first vision of the Phoenix's return.

Times have sure changed from when Storm, in a panic over a possible reappearance of the Phoenix (falsely implanted suggestion), would think first of making an emergency call saying "We need Avengers!"
