    Default Which Diana was the luckiest before she died?

    I'm scanning in the 'final' issue of Wonder Woman, 239, 1985 where she finally marries Steve and they have one night together before the end in Crisis 86. I realized that the Wonder Woman of Earth 2 had married her Steve and had a daughter, but that history was wiped out completely as well. Who was luckier I wondered? The Diana who had a perfect night with Steve before her death or the Diana who had a full life with Steve and a daughter before all of that was wiped away?

    Having not read those stories (though I flipped through 239, I believe), I'd say it would have to depend on your own personal feelings. Were you happier on Christmas morning opening your presents for the time first, or six months later, after you'd been able to play with them and enjoy them?

    In this situation, I would probably say it's "better (using that term lightly) that pre-Crisis Diana didn't lose a child, the way her Earth-2 version did. For the record, I can't choose between Christmas morning or six months later...both can be pretty awesome!

    I am going to say the one who retired to have a daughter with Steve Trevor, but would just remind everyone that in both cases, she ends up with Trevor, who has been her traditinal boy, Perez's only mistake was to leave off Steve when he started his series. And now we are getting hints of a rerturn of Steve Trevor to current continuity....Wonder Woman needs something nice like this to happen to her, she has been through a really lot recently.

    Steve's in JL so at least he was there when she showed up. Not sure where he is now.

    The question is a classic one though as was put classically
    From Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem In Memoriam:27, 1850:

    I hold it true, whate'er befall;
    I feel it, when I sorrow most;
    'Tis better to have loved and lost
    Than never to have loved at all.
    Because in many ways I'm sure that the Earth 2 Diana who bore and raised a daughter must have known that no daughter of Wonder Woman would ever be completely safe. She must have worried constantly, especially after her daughter donned a costume. Where Earth 1 Diana had that night with Steve and that was it. No joy of children, but no worry about them either.

    But she should not marry. It goes against tradition of the character. Not to mention, she has a mission to accomplish, and marriage would get in the way. But having Steve as a boyfriend is fine.

    Why cant she accomplish her mission while being married? It didnt seem to hinder Superman, 3 Flashes, and god knows how many other heroes.

    One would have to have an extremely patient partner/wife/bf/gf to put up with all the bulls*** of being a superhero.

    Considering that you'd be married to Diana? I don't know about you but I could put up with just about anything. :)

    In the case of issue 239 it was just as Crisis was starting, the gods and Paradise Island had just nearly been destroyed and Steve freed the gods of Olympus while Diana defeated Ares. Zeus himself seemed to think that the end was near and he preformed the marriage. I think it was DC's way of giving the character a happy ending before the ending.

    God forbid Diana puts her life in the line to save the planet earth on tuesdays and fridays and THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE on sundays and wednesdays when there are far more pressing matters at hand such as laundry.

    It really has nothing to do with practicality (other than her husband & kids will be targeted, due to a lack of SECRET identity). It has more to do with the law of Aphrodite.

    There are thousands, hundreds of thousands, MILLIONS of women out there who are married.

    That doesn´t prevent them from punching the clock on time every day.
