I was sifting throughand all of Cap's sanctimonious judging of the X-Men....and he specifically sites Rachel's importance should the Phoenix force ever resurface.
Guess he forgot about that.

If you look at the previews, Gambit will assist Cyclops in his fight against the Avengers (see preview AvX: Versus #2).
Marvelgirl proved to help Cyclops as well in AvX #3.
Rogue had some fights with Logan and is still doubting her choice to go to New York and she's missing Magneto a lot as well.
Do you guys think Rogue will switch sides and help out Cyclops against the Avengers?
How about the others at the JG School, like Cannonball, Husk, Kitty, Iceman and ... the students?
I for one think Rogue will join the fight, as well as Rachel. Some of the more aggressive kids, like Hellion, Kid Q and Match should join too. But they probably be side lines for this event.
I think the entire JGS faculty will be joining Scott's side against the Avengers, including Rogue (and possibly even including Wolverine).
As for Rogue, I think she is going to be heavily involved in the sub-story involving Ms. Marvel. Apparently, the matter is going to entail one of the two switching sides (no, not in terms of sexual orientation), so it may be that Rogue ends up on the Avengers' side; but more likely that Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel will end up on the X-Men side.
I never saw the two groups as "sides" (JGS and Utopia mutants that is), just the same group of people splitting up to cover two priorities (teaching young mutants to protect a world that hates and fears them, and protecting their endangered species from outside threats). It's early in the AvX series, but Wolverine's been written completely out of character so far and seems like one of the "bad guys". However, given that one of the two main X-books begins with his name he'll be "rehabilitated" during or after the series. They might shuffle some of them to cover the priorities after this series (one of which may disappear, the endangered part, during or after the event) but I don't believe that there'll be a mutant civil war.
A Fool for the Foom
As shown in a preview for WaTX (and alluded to in the Legacy preview), Rachel and Bobby go off to help Scott & co. Hence why some fo the Avengers show up at the school.

I honestly don't know to what extent the AvX: Versus comics are meant to be taken as canon. I don't think they are much more than an official version of the fandom discussions about who would beat whom in a fight. So, I don't think that Gambit is actually defecting or helping Cyclops, so much as it being a what-if type of fight.
They may do one of them with Rogue. I don't see why they wouldn't.
Judging by how Schism went, Rogue won't be able to make up her mind until after AVX.
If they don't join, Scott will throw Artie at the enemy.
If Ms. Marvel does indeed join the X-Men's side, there doesn't seem to end up with any bad blood between her and Cap since the Captain Marvel series takes place after AvsX and he encourages her to take up the title. Although at the same time, there could be some changes in alliance from the X-Men based on the July solicits.
They expand on battles that take place within the story but plot progression doesn't allow us to see.
Holding out for a Peter/Miles team up.
Violet you're turning violet.
