Magik wouldn't let go of it.

Colossus totally would for the sake of defeating the bad Phoenix host. Assuming he doesn't get punked by Spider-f*****-man, lol.

The covers-- we know covers lie!-- show Colossus chocking Spider-man, so maybe they will have a tough fight. I wouldn't mind seeing Spider-Man win this one. I like Spider-man more than Colossus. Sorry Colossus fans!

I have to side with the people who say Cyclops will the more villainous of the PhoeniX-men. I mean, it is coming down to either Cyclops or Emma-- based on info from solicits-- so I have to chose Cyclops, because the converse would be too much for this Emma fan. I hope Emma tries to stop him and succeeds. If it must be written that way. I think that's okay. I mean, Cyclops isn't a bad person. It was the Phoenix. Besides, Young Cyclops can show up in the MarvelNow! and Emma and Wolverine can say that Cyclops was a hero who sacrificed everything for mutants and it would 99.5% true. The converse would be Young Cyclops showing up and old Cyclops is like "yeah, I pretty much get all my girlfriends killed, but hey, I have a dream to pursue."

Why do you think Evil!Emma would be pissed at Cyclops going to Wakanda to stop Namor?

Unfortunately, it isn't clear what they went into Wakanda to do. Cyclops may have gone in to tell Namor to pull back, or he may have gone in to shore Namor up. All the P5 know that Wanda is a threat one on one, and I think they all suspect that Namor vs the Avengers isn't a guaranteed win for Namor.

I think if we can see some previews from issue 9 it may help direct our speculation.

It is a good question as to why Emma looked at him liked that. Good tension building on the artist's part. Cyclops may or may not suspect Emma. Emma may just be a bit tense since she felt that Cyclops was chastising her last time when Cyclops was telling her not to kill people. She may not want to get chewed out again.

Oh come on.

It's way too early to declare Emma the evil villainess. If she wants anything, she wants to protect mutants. I don't think she necessarily wants the Phoenix power for the sake of having the Phoenix power. I don't think she'd ever stab Magik or Colossus or Cyclops in the back for power, unless she figured that was the only option to protect mutants. I mean, if Colossus said, "maybe we should just give up and let the Avengers take control of Utopia" I think they'd have a problem with Emma.

I don't know a lot about Magik, but from what I understand, she is a good candidate for wanting power for power's own sake. But that's just my very very casual reading. I don't want to get blasted by Magik fans. Colossus will pose for every 3rd splash page.

Cyclops definitely believes that he has a particular calling to change the world and that the Phoenix is the ticket.

Aaron: I think Jean's death freed Scott to finally become his own man; to fully step out from behind the shadow of Xavier and to forge his own path for the X-Men. And Emma has really been the rock at his side. They are, without a doubt, my favorite couple in comics.

As far as being too early-- in my mind, AvX didn't start until issue 6, issue 7 was good, and issue 8 basically went nowhere, so it's pretty early for me. Issue 9 needs to be a really huge issue.

You're right about placing a ballsy bet. Gotta I guess I just don't want to cause the minute you say this or that will happen to a character, someone flies in from one the appreciation threads and jumps on your case. I'm really not accusing you, I'm just saying in general, that's what I've seen happen on these boards. CBR is a good board. The fans are just very dedicated.

Alright. Cyclops is gonna go crazy. He will become incapable of considering that anyone else can have one good idea about saving mutant's that isn't already his and everyone else will become expendable or liabilities to him. Emma Frost is going to realize that the Phoenix isn't going to give her what she wants and when she tells this to Cyclops-- that's they've been wrong this entire time-- he's going to get upset and they will have some sort of major fight. I'm gonna guess that the AvX variant (Pichelli variant) is accurate and Emma and Cyclops actually kill each other more or less same time. None of the Phoenix 5 make it to issue 12.

I placed my bet. But my bigger bet, more cynical bet is that Marvel will find a way to enrage one fan-base-- either Emma's or Scotts with something so terribly one-sided that prior to reading the issue, it would be trolling to have suggested it.

I know I was wrong last time I called it... but here is my new attempt at calling how this will end!

Emma's so going to bite it in Issue 12 then everyone will dog pile on Cyclops to knock the Pheonix Force out of him while Hope and the Scarlet Witch try to knock each other out to make sure the Pheonix Force jumps into them. The scarlet witch will be knocked out at the same time as Cyclopse goes down and Hope will stand up and say "There may only be one!"

Then the Pheonix chooses it's avatar....

She trolls everyone,brings the 05 Back to the Future via Cable's Time Machine, and then Cyclops, Wolverine, and Captain America make out as the issue comes to an end.
