DC Reveals Kevin Maguire's Earth 2 Supergirl Design

Hot on the heels of DC Comics' reveals of Earth 2's Batman, Robin and Wonder Woman, the publisher has released artist Kevin Maguire's character design for Karen Starr's pre-Power Girl identity of Supergirl.

So how long before Power Girl can leave Earth 1, and get back to Earth 2? So she can lose that ugly costume she wears in Worlds' Finest, and just wear this Earth 2 costume. It's much better than the pants suit she will be wearing later on!

I think that looks pretty good. What happened to make her so bland on the main Earth? Still this is a bit more reassuring about things but it could be early so we'll see.

The use of the shield/crest is WAY overdone here. I feel like I'm looking at a caricature instead of a character. Her personality description seems to be taken from the pre-Crisis Kara which I'm sure is intentional.

This might as well be Kara, not Karen. She doesn't look like PG in a Supergirl costume--she looks like Supergirl period.

There ARE a couple of nods to Power Girl. The costume after all IS the Power Girl costume, just colored differently, and with no window and a logo where that went. And the collar at least has historical precedent for PG---she's worn versions of it before. It actually is a very nice Supergirl costume IMO. Bright, but nice. And her description as the leading light among the new crop of Earth 2 heroes is great. As is the bit about how much she was loved by the people of Earth 2 and in turned loved them back---that hearkens back to the pre COIE PG. And she's avoided being infected by the grim and gritty bug!

I wonder what the mostly Supergirl fans think of the design?

I like Karen's new Earth 2 look and all but I don't think that it looks anything like the Power Girl that most people identify with. At first I thought I was looking at Kara- El and then I re-read the description and I was like 'okay, this is different'.

I prefer something more in line with Power Girl's New 52 World's Finest costume as that is much more like herself than this uniform. It'd make sense if this Earth 2 suit was something that Kara was wearing as it pretty much says 'Supergirl' as opposed to 'Power Girl'.

So I guess tomorrow we'll get Superman. I'd like to see some designs we haven't already seen on the two released covers. I guess we didn't get to see the whole thing for Robin and Supergirl before though.

Like I said, IF you look past the colors and the "S"; this IS the old Power Girl costume, (well, also replace the cape stay with the buttons, and the logo with the window).

LOVE that Maguire is switching up the stances in these sneaks. Nice to see a seasoned pro actually doing the legwork and not simply mailing things in.

I'm really looking forward to Worlds' Finest.

I join the group wondering why her regular costume from the series is so bad, especially when it stacks up against this costume that she has a history of wearing.

At least replace her world's finest cape with the regal one she had, who thinks its cool to have a rejected flash Gordon concept with a weird P
