Default Avengers/X-Men: Super Team or Super War?

I created a thread in the X-Boards about what the result of AvX could possibly (but not really) have on the relationship with the Avengers and X-Men.

    ~link to original thread ~

I thought I would ask you guys the same thing.

What would it take (what enemy would it take) for the X-Men and the Avengers to finally join up and become one super team?

What if the opposite happens? The AvX event could possibly be the straw that breaks the camel's back and lead to an all out Marvel war; Meta-Humans/Humans VS Mutants.

Well since both teams are supposed to be good guys albeit with different priorities right now then I'd want them to be a Super Team. At least to deal with the Phoenix and or when a major crossover event occurs (I'm thinking Ultron War would be appropriate).

I wouldn't want a continuation of the Super Hero War theme Marvel seem to do nowadays. IMO that should be done at least for a while after AVX.

However it'll probably be C which will be that nothing will change and Marvel will continue taking our money with hero against hero events again lol.

These days, Avengers vs. X-Men basically is meta vs. mutant. How many characters can you name that aren't in either group? So it's already basically war. Although everyone seems to think this is going to be your more traditional Marvel superhero bashup, with a big war at the beginning, and then joining together at the end to take on the actual threat.

That said, Marvel always wants your money. To think otherwise is stupid.

I feel obliged to mention here, that the term "meta-human" is never used by either Marvel-creators or in-universe. That's a DC-term.

Marvel either uses the term Superhuman ( for altered guys like cap n Spidey), or Post-human. ( post-human is more of a combined catch-all term that includes all evolved or altered human-like beings with super-powers.)

Do you just team team up to work together one time? Or do you mean both teams permanently coming together? If it's the later, that will never happen. You of course several X-Men joining the Avengers... but both franchises will never completely unite.

Combining them just means you're putting all your eggs in one basket. Why have just 1 sucessful franchise when you've already got 2? As long as both are sucessful, there's simply no reason to end one and combine them.

The original post is kind of muddled, but there's unlikely to be a greater war after AvX because AvX is the war. Like, the only character who doesn't seem to have a dog in this fight is, what, Hulk? FF'll probably stay out of it for the most part, but Ben (and Spidey, if you count him) will probably be along for the ride. The end of AvX is the end of that war. Now, there's the question of who comes out on top, and if relations are basically stable, or if one side becomes Germany circa 1919.

AvX is not really the war but a battle that could lead to war. AvX they're bickering and having fist fights but ultimately their focus is on the Phoenix and Hope. An actual war between the two camps would be a lot more severe and would effectively shake the MU up for several years.

    @predabot- They're the same thing...

@Xpac- I mean "What would happen if the Avengers and X-Men joined up to form one super team to fight powerful enemies that threaten their world?"

I'd prefer an all-out hero war. Mutants have gotten too cocky and comfortable. The Avengers will indeed knock that chip right off thier collective shoulders.

Yeah... as cocky and comfortable as a cornered honey badger. And that's not a chip; that's desperation.

Frankly, it's the Avengers who are the cocky, comfortable ones.

They'd never combine to make one big Super Team for reasons Xpac mentioned but I wouldn't mind a spin-off Joint book like X-Avengers with 3 Avengers and 3 X-Men or something for PR moves, etc.
