Default Will there be an Avengers/X-Men team? thread inspired by fod xp

So this gave me an Idea:

where they are one team fighting together to protect the 616. Think Authority but with more characters and books.
It's an interesting concept, but how do you think it will work? What would it take-what enemy would it take- for the X-Men and Third Tier Avengers to finally join up and become one super team?

What if the opposite happens? The AvX event could possibly be the straw that breaks the camel's back and lead to an all out Marvel war; Meta-Humans/Humans VS Mutants.

I, myself, want there to be an all out war(real war, not a stupid argument over turkey bird). That'd be way more interesting to see than the two groups fighting together.

Didn't Wildstorm mix its floundering properties into "the Authority" before the whole universe was ultimately cancelled/ killed off?

Mixing them up is a terrible idea. Teams, while a collective, is about individual personalities and relationships (at least for the X-men). Diluting the X-characters with the nutjobs of Avengers will ruin the book (see Namor).

Should the Avengers and X-Men become Marvel's cheap Justice League knockoff or should they just kill each other

Your timescale is off by a decade. during the later part of the 90s Warren Ellis was give the task of revamping Wildstorm's biggest Superhero team book, StormWatch. He kicked out all the ridiculous cliche superheroes and padded the team with more interesting characters, one of which was his creator owned character Jenny Sparks. Who started out as being totally against leading any team. She also threatened to kill StormWatch's leader if they tried to make her dress up in a "body condom."

She ended up leading StormWatch Black, which was the Secret Black Ops team. There was a Street Team, and Heavy Threat/Public Team, and then some of the Superheroes and human members were kept on staff at their base for information gathering and defense.

6 or 7 TPBs later, Warren Ellis was asked to reboot StormWatch, and instead he created The Authority with Jenny Sparks as the leader, who was now even less inclined to deal with bullshit from her team or villains. Ellis wrote the first 11 issues and then Mark Millar took over. At one point Grant Morrison wrote The Authority, and I think his run was where the Gay couple Apollo and Midnighter became an official homosexual superhero married couple to adopt a child. By the time WildStrom was on its last legs and just before the merger DnA were writing the book. (the two guys writing New Mutants). See, it's not just New Mutants those guys crap all over)

Mixing them up is a terrible idea. Teams, while a collective, is about individual personalities and relationships (at least for the X-men). Diluting the X-characters with the nutjobs of Avengers will ruin the book (see Namor).
Actually, the team combination and restructure for both StormWatch and The Authority helped greatly. There were cameos by the other Superheroes and their respective teams on The Authority when they were on down time, socializing, and recreational drinking.

I could see them doing it, both having the schools and both being led by knobheads. I wouldn't put it past Marvel to do such a thing. I want the gene scum out of my superior gene pool.

I'm not sure exactly how it would work. I'd have to think that through. but props to you, teddy, for a title that attracts the disgruntled Rogue fans, who think they're coming in here to argue about Rogue and Magneto.

Teddy didn't approve of my outrage over not getting my black cha cha heels for Christmas.

Well, I, for one, am disappointed by this thread's abhorrent lack of Rogue and Magneto. Teddy, I demand that you go make another thread that's actually about Rogue and Magneto!

Clearly, the threat that causes them to unite should be Magneto and Rogue's burgeoning romance, which will result in this abomination....

Aww, Charles was cute, that's just a terrible picture.

Anyway, Rogue and Magneto have had children in other realities that didn't turn out to be Charles...
