ergh, the theme is going to take some time getting used to.

One thing - the graphics for "No new posts" and "Unread posts" need to be more distinguished from each other.

Yea I'm not sure if any one cares about "hot" threads or not...maybe someone does...
I think it should be one color for unread and another for read...would be easier to follow..

I was thinking of taking some time this weekend and see if I could remake the yellow and red version (the one I made and liked) of the old boards.

Unfortunately it looks like the main CBR skin has a custom coded style which controls most of the style's look.
Any look I make from that style will only have a limited amount of difference.

I can make other skins not based on the main style but they would not be able to include the custom CBR header and footer which Jonah would want to stay. So for now, normal users are stuck with the one style until Jonah can make another custom style.

The ones with unread messages are at the top for me. Except for stickies they are the ones with open envelopes...
as for 'go to last unread post' it is the tiny dark blue circle with two down arrows, right before the title of the thread.

Most likely they still will be. A lot of mods like locking threads once they get to 5,000 since often it's the chatty threads that reach that mark. It gives the thread a fresh start every so often.

Actually, I posted in Rita's that we could experiment with a 10k limit if people wanted to now that we're running on the SSD hard discs. It's up to you guys.

Works for me. I think we could leave it up to the mod(s) of the boards to decide the thread re-start point: either 5,000 or 10,000.

I never did the "click with mouse wheel" before, but I did to get this replay. I clicked reply with quote. It opened this in a new tab, rather than the same tab. A left click opened in the same tab. reply's go at end. I have not seen threading yet.

I used to click on usercp and it would show my subscribed threads with new posts. It seems like the only way to do that now is to go to the subscriptions page. I preferred the old system because I don't need to see all my subscribed threads when they don't have new posts.

Go to Quick Links > Forum Subscriptions.

Its at the blue bar at the top of this page.

Seriously though, its hard trying to identify the read from the unread threads. Give the black envelope to the read threads and the red one to the unread ones. My eyes hurt from trying to distinguish whether the envelop is open or closed.

Also, make the colours more solid and dark. It would make the forum easier on the eyes.

I think the "quick look" answer to whether a thread has new messages to read is not only the open envelope but the little blue button to the right of the envelope... scanning down the list that should get you to unread threads. And clicking the blue button takes you to the first unread post.

My only real complaint is the reply format. I never was a big fan of quick reply, where you just type your comment in at the bottom of the thread page. I never used this, just because it wasn't my preferred method. I also realize that I can click on "go advanced" at the bottom, but would much rather have that as the default. Is there a way to change this?

This is the first time I saw a 'Quick Reply', one that didn't either open a new page, or if wheel-clicked opened in a new tab. there is a bigger area if you open in a new tab.
I think it will just have to take some getting used to.

I think it would be a mistake to get used to that. It encourages people to provide briefer responses which, essentially, results in less rich conversation. Yeah, you can click to go to the larger screen, but that's an extra step that's tedious if you're someone who likes to make several posts per visit and respond at the speed of thought. I can get used to a lot of things, but not a smaller reply window.

You can resize the response area by dragging the bottom-right corner. The new size seems to be persistent between sessions for me.

It's kind of a pain in the ass posting from my phone now. Takes quite a while for the text to draw in. Not sure why that is.

Eh. No biggie, but kind of annoying.
