I'm not sure what's the point of this issue being a tie-in to Night of the Owls, when Batman's story is actually being told in Batman. It's not like Detective Comics needs a sales boost.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!
I was thinking the same thing. I know different books with the same character are supposed to be separate stories, but still. At least Dark Knight will be starring Tim while Batman and Robin is just Damien fighting one alone.
Now I just hate it because Batwoman is the only book not being involved. While I respect their decision for it not to interfere with the current storytelling, it would have been awesome to Kate battle with the Talon.
I'm more upset that the first new 52 book to really delve into Arkham Asylum and Jeremiah Arkham is written by Daniel...
It's not surprising that Detective would make some adjustments to fit in reference to what is an obviously successful storyline in order to draw attention to all the core Batman books. Sounds like it might be editorial mandate given that Snyder was pretty definitive in his statement that Daniel would not be participating.
Snyder has been telling one of the most compelling Batman stories in years. My fear is that this crossover could water down some of that work and spread it too thinly over a large number of books. I hope that's not the case and he's able to maintain control and tell the story he set out to tell. I'll be following in the series that I already collect but won't be going out of my way to sample any new books to get the "complete" story.
Just hoping the tie in will be smooth and not forced, the last 2 Tec issues have been drawn beautifully but I personally am not feeling the writing at all and I love Daniels writing previously. If this issue really doesn't captivate me, I'm unfortunately going to drop it from my pull :\
I Love DC, but have a man crush for Captain America
The idea of the Court having history with Arkham Asylum sounds interesting, I will admit...
I'm already getting 'Tec anyway but I find this to be just a bit annoying. Sounds like this story will be one that is shoehorned into the event with no real purpose. Not sure whether that will be good or bad for the story in question but it's not as if 'Tec needs the extra sales this might generate.![]()
Current Top Ten Comics: Earth 2, Red Hood and the Outlaws, Talon, Demon Knights, Transformers: Regeneration One, Young Avengers, Batman Beyond Unlimited, Nightwing, Flash, Aquaman
I was already planning on dropping Detective after issue 7. This doesn't change my mind.
Top 5 favorite current books (in no particular order): Batman Inc., Batman, Batman and Robin, Daredevil, Superior Spider-Man

I tried to make tabula rasa with Daniel. His artwork is awesome, but the writing was pretty much crap in the past. So I started 'Tec and gave him a second chance. But even knowing that 'Tec will be involve in Snyders genuis work, I wount jump on again, because I dropped it a couple weeks ago...though it's the sacred cow I planned never to miss an issue...
I think Arkham is a really great place to battle the talon and I loved how they explored the roots of it in Allstar Western, but I will never buy a book written by him again.
Meh, not buying. I thought Detective Comics took place 5 years before Justice League like Action Comics anyway?
I really hope for some great action scenes from Daniel. =)
