On behalf of the DC Community of whom I am a diplomat of, I offer my sincere apologies to the elitism you have experienced here. I always thought the Batman forum is where they resided, but it is clear that it is resides here. Also dont worry about Last Sun, I convinced him that locking Marvel people in FEMA camps is not the answer.

From what you mentioned, now I'm discouraged from visiting the Batman forum. They would call me a Nolanite or something worse for sure.

Seriously Last Son and Jake V, you two aren't doing Superman fandom any favors with the way you're reacting to someone's opinion.

MrV, I have to respectably disagree with your views about Superman being a Gary Stu or obnoxious, in fact the times he came across as obnoxious has been labeled by many fans as out of character. Superman has shown to have much more layers of dimensions to him way before Smallville, the early Post Crisis run by John Byrne in the mid 80's for example, we see a Superman who was still in the early part of his career and he makes mistakes along the way. And the fact he tries to stick to his ideals can lead to some really good stories in fact he comes across as a more interesting character than dark brooding characters such as Wolverine or Batman.

I like the idea of Heimdall being black, and he was well played too. Ironically I beleive Heimdall name literally means "white one" or something like that

Just finished reading the whole thread, I can't believe the hate with Marvel(I started off a Spider-man fan, grew into a Marvel fan and now Im a Marvel and DC Fan) and while I love Smallville I can admit it has various flaws but to downgrade it is wrong because it not only introduce Superman in a new and exciting way to an audience and was able to make it relatable as best as they could it was able to keep on going for 10 seasons(2 seasons of Friday night- the death slot) is impressive for any tv show, especially a superhero tv show.

BBally, yoy basiaclly said everything I was gonna say to a t(although I'm not a big fan of John Bryne's man of steel, I like reading almost every New 52 book under Superman, Batman and Justice League title(plus Stomwatch, Teen Titans, Legion of Superheroes and Suicide Squad). There are books for every Superman fan you just have to find it.

It has been really weird this TV season without Smallville. As a longtime Superman fan (in many incarnations), let's just say this reboot completely alienated me to his comics and leave it at that. This upcoming Smallville comic is the only Superman title DC is putting out that I'm interested in (and I got the Grounded story...), unless you count Batman Beyond Unlimted (since he has his own part in that).

I think a lot of people missed the point of Smallville which wasn't to show Superman's early years, but to build the legend of Superman. IMO the show did that perfectly.

so did I but I also grew fond of the LOSH Cartoon, some Superman comics(mostly golden and silver age comics plus Birthright and Superman for all seasons), It's Superman novels his appearance on the Batman, DCAU and the old Chris Reeves movies got me to appreciate superman and read as much about Superman as I can.

I was a fan of LOSH too. Kell-el represent.

Somehow the show gave me the desire to revamp Superman.
