I mean women who don't have to stripe to a bikini or wear revealing outfits to be considered 'hot.' Chloe and Mercier were attractive on normal, everyday terms, much like that of a neighbor or co-worker, 'true beauty.'

Everyone is different. Not everyone sees Superman as a great character, to some he as obnoxious as a Gary Stu. At least Smallville made him less of a Gary.

If I ever came to care about the character it was because Smallville did something that appealed to me. It did something I felt was good. As for my tastes, WHAT DO YOU CARE? Taste is subjective, what you think is great taste may be lame to me and a few others.

@ Reginleif: I agree with your comment on Chloe. Also, I like Maractus, it's one of those awesome Pokemon introduced in Gen V, IMO.

Yes the Elitism here is high today. Normally I do say negative things about Marvel jokingly, but Last Sun truly believes people from Marvel are inferior. I heard once he said people who read Marvel should be placed in Fema camps, but that may have been a rumor.

And apparently not everyone knows what a Mary Sue/Gary Stu is.

I wasn't hiding anything. I just felt that my message could be simplified a little more. I get sick and tired of you elitist Marvel fanboys like you turning your nose up at Superman and people acting like Smallville is the only time Superman has ever been interesting. It's a load of crap that Smallville did anything to improve on Superman that hadn't already been done. To them, Superman was just a brand to attract people to their latest lackluster Dawson's Creek ripoff. You call that quality?

A "flawless" character. One dimensional. Too unrealistic or unlikely. Wesley from Star Trek. The basics of the concept are not that hard to understand and it's infuriating when some stranger gives you a condescending attitude, it is rude and in turn makes others respond rudely. Assholes like that are troublemaker material.

Now, I don't know if your comment is a smartass attack towards me or anyone else, and I don't want to find out. As to why would some people see Superman as a Stu: Maybe because they may have gotten the impression he lacked any real personality flaws and was powerful in very unbelievable ways due to the poor writing past writers gave him.

one of these days I want to have a discussion about your sense of beauty cause this view now seems a little different than the one you had what we talked about the other day

I never called it quality, I just felt it was more interesting.

Elitist Marvel fanboy? Wow, and I thought I was pathetic.

Be careful MrV, Last Son has said that he desires to place your race (people who like Marvel) in FEMA camps, if he was the supreme ruler of the heavens were you live, things could become dangerous for you.

On a lighter note, wth Last Son? You cannot accuse someone of being elitist because Smallville got him to like Supes! I still really dont care for him (Supergirl is the reason Im here btw), what do you think of me? Should I be placed in a FEMA camp along with MrV?

isnt it a character that is a reflection of the author, which because it is basically the author, can do know wrong?

Ugh, if you claim to know why don't you stop acting like a manipulative know-it-all and just shout it out.

Okay, how about the meaning is not precise and varies from person to person depending on what forum you're in. So whatever you think the answer is will be subjective. Meaning neither you and I will be correct. Some say it is a character that acts as wish fulfillment for the author; Author Avatar, which I think is bullshit, because even Author Avatars can be great characters with flaws and three dimensions.

Ah, or how about this one: A character who is important in the story, possesses unusual physical traits, and has an irrelevantly over-skilled or over-idealized nature. At least two fit Superman. They also tend to have over-dramatic backstories. Superman comes from a planet that was destroyed, is seen as the damn hero of the people, a patronizing figure of imposing good all-American morals and all that garbage. Oh yeah, and Mr. Kent also has over a dozen powers (over skilled).

Hey wow, you've figured out that words have actual meanings.
