So Superman should never look badass? He should only have a shit eating grin?

The only thing I'm sick of is the glowing red eyes. It seems like any more that whenever he's angry or experiencing some intense emotion that he can't stop his eyes from glowing.

I admit I like the Christopher Reeves Superman pose but Superman badass pose is great everyone too. Batman isn't the only one who can pull it off. Superman been doing badass poses since Action Comics#1.
A Comic book fan till I die.

No. This is Superman looking badass

Glowing red eyes and strangling isn't badass.

And that makes him scary. He's got fire coming out of his eyes and it's all he can do to keep from unleashing the most deadly power he has.

He isn't strangling Bruce in that cover. He's holding him aloft and restraining him.

One of my favorite covers to one of my favorite all time issues. The beginning of Jeph Loeb's run, if memory serves.

The funny thing is that for the people who seem to want to see Superman go all glowy eyes all the time, if anyone brings up how it's been overused, then that person is said to only want to see Superman with a big grin at all times. Just as those who are bigest supporters of the Jim Lee armor look brand anyone who points out that Superman shouldn't wear armor as wanting to keep him in the red briefs and spandex forever. It's all absolutes with some.

The Red Eye thing was cool when it was a rarity. I remember fondly the cover of 1994's SUPERMAN #0...that was the first time it was used on a cover that I can remember, and it looked awesome. Now it seems to be on 3/4ths of the Superman covers/images the last several years. It gets tiresome, just as it would be to have him constantly smiling. Superman can look noble, heroic and "badass" without looking like he's ready to fry someone or crush their larynx. The above cover is just one example of being subtle and conveying the same vibe of raw power and awe, without reverting to the base "kewl" norm, which is being overused to the point of being cliche.

God forbid Superman ever smiles these days. Because that automatically means he's a lame and boring boy scout. Because nobility and being purely heroic isn't "kewl" enough to connect to today's audiences, apparently.

I like the SMALLVILLE cover, and in this context, it works well here, but I do tire of seeing the glowing eyes/frown/angry Superman most of the time.

It's a cool cover, but there's nothing "badass" about it.

Superman smiles a lot in Action Comics.

I was going to pick this up, but the Barbara Gordon rumors are driving me away.

I'm still reading it, but I'm not happy about them changing it.

I guessed the traveler's identity a while back, but I'm kinda confused. How did she knew Superman? She said "Looks like this is a job for Superman" after all.

A good chapter none the less. Just, not as good as others.

So Friday is the end of the first episode, can't wait to read it all in one sitting! So happy Smallville is back!
Anyone who doesn't like Miles Morales is a racist.
