It's because of the large volume of Avengers material being released, and most of it being written by Bendis.

    Avengers
    New Avengers
    Avengers Assemble
    Avengers vs X-Men

When you take into account Marvel's new double shipping, that's eight Bendis-written Avengers books coming out next month. Can you blame people for not being excited?

Besides, Avengers Assemble is basically just Marvel Adventures: Avengers, but 616 and stretched into six issue arcs. I doubt it will have any major repercussions.

Ok, well its on my pull list but trying to trim down a little as the Valiant comics coming and a few added from Image so dropping this and may drop Avengers as well keeping only New, Secret and Academy.

I think I read that after the Hulk has a run in with the new Zodiac, he goes to the Avengers to get help to fight them, thus explaining how he teams up with them. It'll be interesting to see if the book stays after Bendis leaves and the Avengers franchise gets reshuffled. I'm getting it next Wed.

I am. I loved Bendis and Bagley's run on Mighty Avengers and can't wait to see them on Avengers again.

Six issue arcs really? I thought they were going for accessible, 6 issue arcs means its only accessible every 6 months or so.

Watch them make this book but do it no differently than the other titles.

Honestly, I think the notion of books with major repercissions is kind of overrated.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Civil War and Dark Reign and all that other stuff too... but Marvel Adventures Avengers, where they were doing their own thing in self contained stories was awesome too.

So to me, it's not a deal breaker at all. In fact it's probably smart go go with a more accessible stand alone book if they're trying to catch new readers off the movie.

That said, I think this book leads into whatever Bendis is doing next, so it'll have some effect at least.

I'm pretty excited for this book. I'm hoping that this book exists as an "extra" Avengers books the smae way Astonishing X-Men does. (The stories are in continuity but doesn't really tie into anything else.)
My Heroes For Hire: Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Misty Knight, Colleen Wing, The Falcon, Ant-Man (Scott Lang). White Tiger IV and Powerman would be interns.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I don't dislike that it's standalone and accessible. What I'm saying is that often I'll pick up Bendis books like Secret Invasion not because I like them, but because they're "important". Since this title isn't likely to have any long-term impact, it doesn't pressure me to buy it. I would imagine others are using the same logic.

Default Is Avengers Assemble in continuity?

Just read Avengers Assemble #4 and, well, I don't care what Bendis or Quesada are saying or said, inside there's definite proof that those stories are not in continuity.

Iron Man: "A cosmic threat is beyond us" (Kree-Skrull War, Galactic Storm, AVX!!)

Iron Man: "We barely know what Thanos is so we don't know what he wants or how to stop it" (Infinity Trilogy anyone??)

And, at last, it seems that the Guardians of the Galaxy, who show up on the last page, don't know any of the Avengers. ("Hi, we're the Guardians of the Galaxy! I think we can help)

So there you go. I don't know why Marvel would insist that those stories belong to the 616 universe, unless there's some upcoming twist that reveals that Thanos and the Guardians were mind-wiped from the Avengers minds.

Course, the truth is they don't know what Thanos wants or how to stop it. Unless he's doing the same thing he was doing in the Infinity Trilogy, that really doesn't help them out as far as stopping him right now.

Haven't you heard? Avengers under Bendis don't know anything because it's "Newcomer friendly!"
